Boulder Climbing Community
Engaging climbers and community to protect and preserve climbing areas in the Front Range!
We are a local climbing organization working to protect and preserve climbing areas on Colorado's Front Range and beyond. The mission of the BCC is to mobilize the local community and partners to care for the environments we impact as climbers, and enrich the outdoor experience for all. Our stewardship programs include trail building, anchor replacement, waste management and more.

We've said it before: we are proud to serve this Front Range climbing community. But today we are extra proud and humbled. So many of you stepped forward during our weeklong Crag's Ain't Free campaign to support the BCC's crag stewardship work that we blew past our goal on the final day!
The BCC Board of Directors and Staff want to express our deep gratitude to you, the folks who make all of our stewardship work possible. Everyone who donates and/or gives their time to come volunteer with us plays a crucial role in protecting the climbing areas we all love so much. Over the coming months, we have quite a few more weeks of rebolting projects, trail building, and community events, where we will put the funds raised in this campaign to good use-- and we look forward to seeing you out there!

45 million acres and 10,000 backcountry climbs nationwide are at risk. From California to West Virginia, your public lands need YOUR help.
The US Forest Service has released a draft proposal to rescind the Roadless Rule and we need climbers to weigh in. The public comment period runs through September 21st. Let’s make our voices heard.
For 20+ years, these places have been off-limits to new roads to keep our air and waters clean and our backcountry wild. Colorado may have its own rule providing extra protections for now, but many places that Front Range climbers care about will be affected by this policy change, and rescinding this policy at the federal level could leave Colorado more vulnerable in the long run.
🚨We have until September 21st to flood the US Forest Service with comments letting them know that our national forests are worth fighting for.
✍️ Take 2 minutes to contact the US Forest Service and tell them to uphold the Roadless Rule: https://www.accessfund.org/action-alerts/roadless-rule
Remote by choice. Protected by climbers. This is YOUR backcountry.

Over the weekend, BCC Anchor Replacement Program volunteers put in a massive 14-hour day rebolting up at The Monastery. The approach was long, the temps were hot, and the packs were heavy. Despite all this, our volunteers fully upgraded 7 classic routes with brand new stainless steel glue-in bolts, including Gran Ol' Oprey, The Quickening, Third Milenium, and Tabula Rasa.
Huge shoutout to for helping to organize and support this effort, for providing the hardware, and for the generous volunteer swag!

The remaining Raptor closures across the Front Range have been lifted as of 8/1/2026. All areas previously closed to protect Raptor nesting have been reopened to climbing (with the possible exception of three formations on Lumpy Ridge-- the Needle, The Parish, and Thunder Buttress-- where closures may be extended for a short additional time; please check signage at the trailhead to confirm access to those).
Thank you for avoiding these areas during the closure periods; it is vital to the protection and success of these incredible animals as they raise their young.
It was a great year for the birds! Our Raptor Monitoring Program volunteers regularly observed the nests in Boulder Canyon, providing data to the USFS throughout the year. With much hope and excitement, we watched as three Peregrine Falcon chicks and one Golden Eagle chick successfully fledged in Boulder Canyon! The young ones are now out soaring above the canyon as they learn to hunt independently and fend for themselves in the wild. The first year is the toughest for our new feathered friends, so wish them luck if you see them flying overhead next time you’re climbing in the Canyon! And just as the Forest Service said in their own announcement online, big thank you the BCC's volunteers for all their careful observation and data gathering.
