Last week, the CFBC team gathered for our annual staff planning day to reflect, connect, and plan for the year ahead. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to pause, come together, and explore how we can more fully put our values of humanity, trust, and collaboration into practice — both as a team and in our work with donors, nonprofits, and the Boulder County community.

Applications are open for the 2027 Leadership Fellows Boulder County cohort! Join a group of 25–30 diverse leaders from across industries who are ready to shape the future of our community. Designed to foster inclusive, transformational leadership, the program provides fellows with an understanding of the issues, challenges, and solutions critical to the success of our communities. Graduates are encouraged to leverage their new skills and knowledge to pursue leadership roles within Boulder County and beyond.

With a new school year underway, Scout recently visited Garden To Table / Growe Foundation, a local nonprofit helping Boulder County elementary students connect with nature, grow food, and learn academic subjects like math, science, and literacy through hands-on experiences in their school gardens.

Garden to Table supports more than 200 classrooms across 18 Boulder Valley School District schools, bringing thousands of students into their gardens to learn, explore, and experience the wonder of growing and eating fresh produce.

Scout got to visit one of these incredible school gardens and see firsthand just how much learning can happen in an outdoor classroom — from caring for plants and understanding where our food comes from to discovering the joy of getting your hands in the dirt.

This year-long peer learning program is designed to help community foundations from across the country develop and refine an economic mobility agenda in their communities while building the foundation’s capacity to advance the work. We’re excited to announce the 125 community-driven organizations receiving 2026 Community Trust grants. These organizations work every day to help ensure everyone in Boulder County can experience a life of opportunity and fulfillment.

This year, Community Trust is granting $574,750 across six areas: animal care and welfare, arts and culture, civic engagement, education, environment, and health and human services.
