Boulder Philharmonic

It is a privilege to share this program once again with Motus Theater. If you’ve experienced "Stories of Migration and Music" before, you know that no two evenings are quite the same. Each gathering brings different voices, stories, and moments—and each has been deeply moving in its own way.

We’re grateful to the City and County of Broomfield - Government for the opportunity to bring this collaboration to the Broomfield Auditorium for the first time, through their Artist in Residence program.

Join us for an evening of listening, reflection, and the powerful connection between personal stories and live music... an experience that stays with you.

Attend an evening of music, storytelling and community. Don't miss the Fall Artist in Residence Performance: Stories of Migration and Music, a collaboration between Motus Theater and the Boulder Philharmonic String Quartet. The evening centers on Motus Monologists sharing artfully crafted personal stories, underscored by violinist Anthony Salvo, followed by musical responses curated by Fernanda Nieto, featuring works by Dvořák, Heins, Ponce and more, along with special guest readers.

Thursday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. in the Broomfield Auditorium

It’s a chance to sit together as a community, listen deeply to the lived experiences of our undocumented neighbors and reflect through art. Learn more at Broomfield.org/ArtistinResidence.

Last night at eTown was the culmination of a collaboration with Stratøs and our Boulder Philharmonic musicians to bring music from his newly released album "Challenger Deep" to life with a chamber ensemble!

Our gratitude to Stratøs for sharing his passion with us; to Annamaria Karacson, Rinat Erlichman, Matthew Diekman, Joey Howe, Sarah Bierhaus, Ian Buckspan, Francisco Delgado, Michael Yopp, and Susan Townsend for bringing it to the stage; to eTown for welcoming us; to our Community Partners and everyone who joined us to show their support for the artists and this collaboration.

This October, experience where the music takes you!

50 years after Boulder Phil’s first conductor, Antonia Brico, returned to Boulder to conduct Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2, we return to this extraordinary work with Music Director Michael Butterman. Maestro describes Sibelius as a process of discovery: “It’s as if he’s wandering through a musical field, picking up little ideas along the way.” Those ideas gather, grow, and become something much bigger.

Sometimes all you need to know you missed something amazing is the standing ovation at the end.

A huge thanks once again to Planet Bluegrass—a family that always makes us feel like we’re part of it, too. (We're bringing baked goods next time!)

To our stellar staff and musicians... Ryan Jacobsen, Annamaria Karacson, Stephanie Mientka, and Charles Lee. Performances like these help us SHIFT into more places we want to be, with more people we want to share them with.
