eTown
| Music • Ideas • Community | Recently, eTown pivoted to all-virtual episodes.
eTown, the internationally syndicated radio broadcast, podcast, and multimedia- and events-production nonprofit, launched on Earth Day 1991 in Boulder, Colorado. Since then, eTown has produced musical, social, and environmental programming all focused on its ongoing global mission—to educate, entertain, and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation in order to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable world. Prior to the pandemic, eTown recorded shows in front of a live audience in eTown Hall, a 17,000 square foot former church in downtown Boulder which has been renovated and transformed into a solar-powered performance and recording facility—likely the only zero-carbon facility of its kind in North America. On April 22, 2021, eTown will host its 30th b’Earthday Celebration live stream which includes an induction into Colorado Music Hall of Fame. eTown is aired on over 300 radio stations nationwide, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Vimeo, on Facebook and Twitter @eTownRadio, on Instagram @eTown_Radio, on YouTube, as well as at www.etown.org.

A very unique event in November with Nolan Gasser & The Mighty Mighty, who present Why You Like It: Decoding Musical Taste at eTown Hall.
Inspired by Nolan’s book and 2025 PBS special, this interactive concert explores why we love the music we love. Nolan and The Mighty Mighty pair live performance with stories and insights from neuroscience, psychology and culture.
Audience members will also participate through the Why You Like It companion app and leave with personalized playlists shaped by their own musical preferences.

This week on eTown, we hear how people move through change without losing sight of what matters most.
Our recent Artist-in-Residence, M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger, shares songs from his new album, I’m People, a record that considers family, aging, heartbreak and the reasons we find to remain hopeful.
Emily Nenni joins us with her take on honky-tonk and classic country, sharing songs filled with heartache, humor and plenty of personality.
In our interview, eTown host Nick Forster talks with Fred Gage and renewable energy executive John Schmauch to hear how they’re helping family farms in upstate New York use solar energy to create reliable income and strengthen their future.
Through music, personal experience and new ideas, this episode looks at the different ways we find our footing, and we thank you for listening.

Next month, two distinctive voices in modern folk share the eTown stage.
The Milk Carton Kids have earned four Grammy nominations with a sound built around two voices, two acoustic guitars and the close musical partnership of Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale. Their new album, Lost Cause Lover Fool, is thoughtful, finely detailed and made for close listening.
Colorado favorite Courtney Hartman joins too, following the release of With You, a personal album shaped by motherhood, friendship and the people who show up when they are needed most. She has also released With You: From the Garden Shed, a solo acoustic companion featuring stripped-down versions of the album’s songs.
It all happens October 19, and tickets are moving fast:
