Boulder Fire-Rescue

Around 1:50 p.m. today Boulder Fire-Rescue was called to a structure fire in the 800 block of Mcintire St.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but crews arrived to a deck and house fully on fire with the fire having extended to the backyard towards Foothills Highway. Crews worked to extinguish the structure fire as well as the small wildfire.

At this time, 2:45 p.m. both fires are contained and crews remain on scene to eliminate hot spots and make sure the area is safe.

Please expect heavy traffic on Foothills headed south (south of Arapahoe). Mcintire St is closed to traffic south of Laurel Ave.

Today, Boulder Fire-Rescue pauses to remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including 343 members of the FDNY who responded when they were needed most. We remember their courage, their sacrifice and the families, friends, colleagues and communities forever changed by the attacks.

Today, firefighters across the country honor that sacrifice through 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs, climbing in remembrance of those who made that climb and did not return home. 9/11 will always be a powerful reminder of what service to the community can require.

Still after 25 years, we climb to remember, we pause to honor and we will never forget.

Boulder Fire-Rescue has a new assistant Fire Marshal in the (fire) house! 

A huge congrats to our new assistant Fire Marshal, Ben Watson! In this position, what kind of work will Captain Watson do? 

BFR’s Fire Marshal and assistant Fire Marshal lead work that often happens long before an emergency call comes in. They help keep our community safe through fire prevention, inspections, plan reviews, code compliance and investigations, while working with businesses, property owners, contractors and community members to reduce fire risk across Boulder.

They also help shape how our community grows safely — reviewing new construction and development, supporting wildfire and building safety efforts, and identifying hazards before they become emergencies.

This is important work that doesn’t always happen in the spotlight, but it plays a huge role in protecting Boulder every day. Congrats on your promotion Captain Watson!

There’s temporary art at Station 3 right now—but there’s also something permanent here that carries a much deeper meaning.

In front of Station 3 is artwork honoring Boulder Fire-Rescue firefighters who died in the line of duty.

While the balloons bring some temporary color and fun to the station, our permanent artwork gives us an opportunity to remember the people who served this community and made the ultimate sacrifice.

What is on Fire Station 3?!

If you’ve driven by Station 3 and noticed it looking a little more colorful than usual, you’re not imagining things.

For a limited time, Station 3 is home to a temporary art installation made from biodegradable balloons. It’s simply here for a little fun, a little creativity and a new way to draw attention to the fire station that serves this community every day.

You are welcome to come by at any time and see it up close. If you visit the station before 1pm today, you’re also welcome to come inside and see the fire trucks in the bay!

We responded with Boulder Police to a crash today on Valmont Road where the motorcyclist involved was transported to the hospital with serious bodily injury.

At 7:28 p.m. Boulder Fire-Rescue responded to the Dartmouth/Kohler area for the report of a smoke plume in the area. Upon arrival, the initial crew noticed strong electrical odor and called in additional resources to investigate.

After some investigation and lessening smoke, BFR crews identified an electrical fire underground (in an electric vault). The fire is contained and crews are keeping an eye on the situation closely. The only public safety information you should be aware of related to this incident is using caution when driving, especially through intersections where lights are out. Treat dark four-way intersections as all-way stops.

People’s Crossing Fire Contained at Half an Acre; Cause Still Under Investigation

Boulder, Colo. — At 9:19 a.m. Boulder Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the report of a small wildfire in the trees and grass on the north side of the intersection between Boulder Canyon Drive and Arapahoe Ave. By 9:29 a.m. there was water on the fire and by 11:10 a.m. the fire was 100% contained and measured at approximately a half an acre. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire and no structures impacted. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

During the fire response, Sunshine, Red Rocks and Anemone Loop trails were closed out of an abundance of caution. Canyon Drive west of 6th Street was also closed. As of noon, all trails and roads were reopened.

Fire and law enforcement crews worked quickly and efficiently to secure the area and put the fire out. Boulder Fire-Rescue appreciates the following agencies for their excellent work during this incident: Boulder Police Department, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Fire Management, Boulder Rural, Mountain View Fire Rescue, Lafayette Fire, Louisville Fire, Longmont Fire, Falck and Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers.

A Warning to Evacuate for the area of the People’s Crossing Trailhead went out around 9:44 a.m. By 10:04 a.m., there was no longer a threat to safety and an All Clear alert was sent to the same people in that area. Community members are reminded that a Warning to Evacuate is issued when a threat may develop into a life-safety emergency. Residents are advised to prepare to evacuate, or to leave now if they anticipate needing extra time.
