Branson Cedar Ridge Elementary Library

You’ve Been Booked is a new library program where each month I fill special themed bags with books that travel around classrooms. When a class gets “booked,” teachers can read the books aloud and students get to practice being book critics, sharing whether they loved, kind of liked, or didn’t enjoy each story.

The purpose? To get kids reading more and expose them to a wider variety of authors, characters, and stories! Sometimes a book you would never choose on your own turns out to be a new favorite!

Classes that read and critique every book in the bag earn the chance to choose one of the titles to keep for their classroom library!

Each month brings a new theme and a new collection of books! September kicked things off with “You’ve Been Booked” and October is right around the corner!🎃

A huge THANK YOU to Central Bank, Mr. Frieze, and Ms. Bailey for helping us celebrate our 59 students who completed the CRE Library Summer Reading Challenge!

Thanks to their generosity and support, our readers enjoyed pizza, cookies, and lots of fun as we celebrated their accomplishment and love for reading!

We are always grateful for community partners who support and encourage our students!

Don’t forget! Completed and signed Summer Reading Challenge forms are due this Friday, September 11, 2026 to the library!

Welcome back!

Don’t forget to complete your CRE Library Summer Reading Challenge!

We just wrapped up reading the Show Me Readers Award nominees in the library! This Missouri book award allows students in grades 1–3 to read 10 nominated books and vote for their favorite.

We talked about how to critique a story—thinking about the characters, illustrations, and what made the book enjoyable. Students then used those discussions to become informed voters when deciding which one was their favorite!

The award winner will be announced at the end of April!

We had so much fun celebrating Read, White & Blue Week while learning about America’s history and symbols! Students have enjoyed special activities, great books, and meaningful conversations about our country as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We had a great CRE Family Movie Night celebrating the end of our schoolwide reading of The Wild Robot!

A big thank you to Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex for donating popcorn for the evening! 🍿

Thank you to our wonderful teachers for helping make the night a success and to our families for supporting this programming for our students.

It was a fun way to celebrate reading together as a school
