Purpose & Mission: Lesson Check-In is a nonprofit organization created to support students and famili
We pair middle and high school students with undergraduate and graduate volunteers, who "check-in" and assist students on a weekly basis. Volunteers, our Check-In Coaches, lend helping hands to parents and guardians, while encouraging students to achieve their goals. This initiative highlights the value of human connection and community in education. The success of this initiative requires collaboration and cooperation between parents, guardians, students, and volunteers. Before a Check-In Coach can speak to a student, they must first communicate with a parent or guardian to establish goals and expectations. Parents, guardians, and students are expected to openly share information related to grades, behavior, and classroom participation with Check-In Coaches. Coaches must document progress and discuss achievements and concerns with families. If a parent or guardian is unhappy with their student's Check-In Coach they can raise this issue with the LC team and request a new match.
