We learn to mask it…

💛Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed.
💛Going to work.
💛Answering messages.
💛Laughing with friends.
💛Making dinner.
💛Taking care of everyone else.

You learn how to function while carrying a loss that never stops being heavy.

People may see you smiling and think you’re doing better. They may assume you’ve healed or moved on. And you do start to move in, but as a new person.

But what they don’t see is how much strength it takes to carry the missing with you through an ordinary day.

💛You can be functioning and still be grieving.
💛You can experience joy and still ache for your child.
💛You can build a life and still wish with everything in you that they were here to live it with you.

Grief doesn’t always look broken.

Sometimes…it looks like strength.

And sometimes, the strongest people you know are simply learning how to carry what they cannot change. 💛💛💛
