🚨Recipe Alert‼️ Nutritionist and Dietician Sydney Sloan knows how to beat the heat, TCM style!
🥭 Eating raw fruit in Chinese Medicine is usually not recommended for digestive health (cold + damp properties which overwhelm our Spleens 😰). However, when temps are high and seasons fruits are ripe, sometimes we just gotta! 🙈
🍈🍋🟩Grapefruit, Melon, and Lime are cool and sweet-sour which clear Summer Heat and generate fluids.
🫚🍯Fresh Ginger and Honey are warm and provide a counterbalance that improved digestability and tolerance of the fruits.
🍃Fresh Mint adds light aromatic movement, helping to prevent Qi stagnation from the damp, sweet fruits.
Recipe below!
2 grapefruits (divided into segments)
1/2 small cantaloupe (balled)
1/2 small honeydew (balled)
1/2 small watermelon (balled)
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (finely grated)
2 limes (zest and juice)
1 heaping teaspoon of honey
Food safety tip 💡Wash all ingredients well prior to preparation and be sure to refrigerate!

Feeling anxious or overwhelmed?
Try this simple acupressure technique ↓
Start at your Adam’s apple, then slide your fingers to the side of your neck until you feel the large muscle.
Gently massage that area in slow, circular motions.
In Chinese medicine, this point is used to help calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and bring your body out of “stress mode.”
Do this for 1–2 minutes on each side while taking slow, deep breaths.
You may start to feel your body relax and your mind quiet down.
This is a great one to use:
• during moments of anxiety
• when you feel overwhelmed
• before bed to help you unwind
Save this for later — your nervous system will thank you.

Feeling stressed or like your emotions are building up?
Mint can be a simple, natural way to relieve that pressure.
Try it as a tea — it helps calm the body and gently release tension, like a cork about to pop.

Feeling overheated, or like your body won’t calm down?
Try this simple acupressure reset ↓
Place your fingers on the inside of your elbow (right in the crease) and apply gentle pressure while breathing slowly.
This point is commonly used in Chinese medicine to help clear heat, regulate body temperature, and support your nervous system.
Do this for 1–2 minutes on each side. You might notice a slight warmth or tingling — that’s normal and a sign of increased circulation.
This is a great one to use:
• after a workout
• when you’re feeling overheated
• during moments of stress or irritability
Save this for later and try it next time your body feels “off.”
