Think Local! Get the scoop on quality businesses to help you build the life you want to live. Preserve business diversity.
In 2003, the unforgettable Mimi Vanderhaven met with a group of creative and passionate individuals to present her plan to launch a publication dedicated to what she termed, “Preserving business diversity.” She believed that any community would embrace a publication that simultaneously supported quality locally owned businesses and treated its readers like ladies and gentlemen. The result was the founding of Mimi Vanderhaven, a magazine in favor of promoting the heroic efforts of those local entrepreneurs whose hearts are so filled with a destiny to serve that they have abandoned their cubicles to risk their life’s savings to follow their own paths. That same passionate mission is now being carried forth online at MimiVanderhaven.com. Mimi’s values are rooted in a celebration of individual creativity, the magical connection between forgiveness and excellence, and a quirky insistence on doing everything exactly opposite from what is expected. Every month, Mimi Vanderhaven is mailed to over 285,000 homes and businesses in Northeast Ohio’s affluent outer suburbs, including Auburn, Aurora, Avon, Avon Lake, Bath, Bay Village, Bainbridge, Beachwood, Bentleyville, Berea, Bratenahl, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Brunswick, Chagrin Falls, Cleveland Heights, Copley, Columbia Station, Fairlawn, Fairview Park, Gates Mills, Hinckley, Hudson, Hunting Valley, Medina, Middleburg Heights, Moreland Hills, Northfield, North Olmsted, North Royalton, Olmsted Falls, Orange, Parma, Parma Heights, Peninsula, Richfield, Rocky River, Sagamore Hills, Shaker Heights, Sharon Center, Solon, Strongsville, Twinsburg, West Akron, Westlake, Woodmere, University Heights, Valley City and more. Those three words have been the heart of Mimi Vanderhaven's brand since our inception in 2003. As her readers know, Mimi is dedicated to supporting locally owned businesses and ensuring that the people of Northeast Ohio have significant choice in how they live their lives—including shopping, dining, healthcare, home improvement and more. Although Mimi Magazine welcomes certain advertisements from national chains in Northeast Ohio, we do not produce editorial-style content for non-regionally-based national chains that already have significant market share or brand awareness among our readers. While we value and appreciate the positive local impact such businesses can have on our community, our editorial voice is reserved for informing our readers about less well-known product and service options. The publication of any content is at the sole discretion of Mimi Magazine, and we reserve the right to refuse any advertisement at any time. Mimi’s editorial and advertising missions are perfectly aligned. This means her editorial resources are dedicated exclusively to presenting quality, locally owned businesses to her adoring fans. Plus, her calendar (in print and now online) is filled hundreds of community events. Claims one local politician, “I use Mimi’s Calendar every issue to decide which events to attend so I can interact with my constituents.”
And now that Mimi has expanded her mission to the web, her audience is growing to all of Northeast Ohio and beyond.

Help rescue good food and get it to neighbors who need it! 💚
Food Rescue US is looking for food donors and volunteers in Summit and Medina counties. Whether you have excess food to donate or a little time to help transport it, you can make a difference.
Learn more and get involved with Food Rescue US - Akron! 🍎
🍅🗑 The US Wastes Too Much Food- But Together, We Can Change That.
Every day, millions of pounds of perfectly good food are thrown away while millions of Americans face food insecurity.
Here are a few eye-opening facts:
📊 Nearly 40% of all food produced in the US goes uneaten.
🍊Food is the single largest material sent to landfills in the US.
🌍 When wasted food ends up in landfills, it produces methane- a powerful greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.
The good news? Food rescue is part of the solution.
At Food Rescue US-Akron, we work with local food donors, volunteers, and social service agencies to redirect nutritious surplus food to people who can use it instead of sending it to the landfill.
Every rescue matters. Every volunteer makes a difference. Every pound of food saved helps build a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable community.
Together, we can feed people- not landfills. 💚
