Our work is made possible by a community of donors.

Different Day was created because women in the Brazos Valley who wanted to leave exploitation needed not only a way out, but somewhere to go afterward and people willing to stay for the long process of rebuilding.

Through Brazos Valley Gives, our community can help Different Day continue providing women with the time, support, and opportunity to build lives beyond exploitation— and to decide for themselves what comes next!

We would be so grateful for your donation!

Hard days feel a little lighter around a table. A home-cooked meal, a seat saved, and people to carry the day with you. Around here, once a week, that looks like Fellowship Dinner.

We recently had the opportunity to spend time volunteering with horses. It was, in its own quiet way, therapeutic.

Horses require you to notice. Your pace. Your energy. Your boundaries. Their boundaries. Whether you’re actually present. And for someone whose body has learned to stay on alert, practicing safety and connection in a nonverbal relationship can be meaningful.

There’s growing research around equine-assisted work for people who have experienced trauma. Studies have found promising results in areas like anxiety, mindfulness, trust, connection and symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

Thank you Silver Horse Ranch for a peaceful morning.

You might know our Executive Director, Tara Hutton, but do you know know her? Here are a few fun facts about the woman behind the title!

A little less business, a little more fun! And, pertect timing, because Tara just celebrated a birthday! Help us wish her a very happy birthday in the comments! 🎂

“Why didn’t she just leave?”
It’s an understandable question. From the outside, leaving can look like a single decision. But up close, it’s rarely that simple.
Maybe a better question is:
“What makes leaving so hard?”

Whatever you want to call them, we’re just really glad they’re ours.

There are a hundred ways healing happens at Different Day.

So many hard conversations and brave decisions.

But sometimes healing is soft blankets, quiet music, deep breaths, and stretching a little farther than comfortable, staying there and breathing.

This day we chose soft.

S*x trafficking doesn’t always look like what we’ve been taught to picture. And neither do the women who have experienced it.

At Different Day, we serve women whose stories may include trafficking, sexual exploitation, abuse, addiction, homelessness, incarceration, or other circumstances that have left them vulnerable to being used, controlled, or harmed.

At Different Day we provide safe, stable housing and walk alongside women as they do the much bigger work of healing, rebuilding independence, developing skills, finding meaningful employment, and creating lives that belong to them.

Part of our work is serving women.

But the other part is helping our community better understand the circumstances that made them vulnerable in the first place.

As we better understand exploitation, the better we become at recognizing it, preventing it, and supporting the women who have survived it.
