With Rabies making headlines lately, spreading awareness on World Rabies Day is especially timely and extremely important.

This summer, the CDC reported an increase in Rabies activity and human exposures across the country. This brought a lot of attention back to a disease that can feel like something we don't have to worry about anymore.

Rabies is nearly always fatal once symptoms appear, but there is good news: Rabies is preventable, and protection is easily obtainable! When you protect your pet against Rabies, you protect yourself, your family, and your community.

World Rabies Day is recognized annually to bring awareness to Rabies and progress in the global battle against it. Safe, effective vaccines are widely available today for both humans and pets.

Keeping your pet's Rabies vaccine up-to-date is essential to the fight against this deadly disease. If you are unsure if your pet is up-to-date, please contact your veterinarian to see what they have on your pet's file.

Together, we can work towards eliminating the spread of Rabies in our community.

⚠️We also want to remind the public that any bite from a dog or cat, whether the pet is owned or not, must be reported to your local animal control so proper Rabies observation protocol (or procedures) can be followed for the safety of you and your pet. ⚠️

Guys, today officially marks 2 months of having Opal in our care. Two whole months. 😭

And as much as we adore spending time with her every day, we genuinely can not understand why she keeps getting overlooked.

3-year-old Opal has adored playing with the other dogs in our care, is a favorite for our volunteers to take on Dog Day Out, and has the cuuutest curled tail! 🥹

Two months is a long time to be waiting for someone to see what we see in her. Opal deserves to know the love of a family.

We know we start talking about Kitten Season in late winter/early spring, but in reality, Kitten Season lasts most of the year here in Texas.

This year has been particularly difficult - especially in the recent weeks, as we’ve seen a large influx of very young kittens come through our doors.

We won’t lie, our incredible fosters are understandably tired. 😴

These little ones may be tiny, but caring for them is a BIG job. We’re doing everything we can to give each kitten the care they need, but we can’t do it alone.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering kittens, NOW IS THE TIME. If you are unable to foster, monetary donations help provide nourishment, medical care, and everything else these tiny babies need to grow up healthy and ready for families of their own.
