🪡🧵Slowing stitching & mending reminds me that everything needs repairs; our bodies, our homes, our relationships, our vehicles, our country.....etc.

This simple work reminds me that even the tiniest repairs are beautiful.

These stitches were done when I was away & on planes, in Ubers, and beside people I love watching movies & shows. The textures are are way of remembering.

It is spring...and it is time to gather at my studio cottage☀️🧵🪡🫶. We have a mending circle on April 6th....and a drop of space (like a slice of sun) left in the May one day, and the June four day (then sold out for the year). Come smell the lilacs with me, dance in the grass in bare feet and let yourself feel the freedom of pure creativity and possibility. Links to my site are in my bio...☀️🫶.

Yippee!!!! Workshop season is on!!! This sacred creative space is open on Monday, April 6th for the first spring mending circle. 🫶🪡. Sign up on my website (link in bio🧵🪡).

Next week will be a big studio clean and sort as I get ready for the mending circle, a one day workshop in May and a long weekend workshop in June. There are a two spots in May & June open 🫶.

🧵One thing I am certain of: we must gather in anyway possible. Community is life saving and creativity is best shared under trees, with endless art supplies, coffee & music. 🪡

protest in community with kindreds....gather....gather....gather.

Happy birthday today to my darling daughter Paige 🫶✨. She is a constant source of creative inspiration, she has all of my admiration and is one of my closest friends. I am beyond excited to watch this year unfold for you .tattoo 🥳🫶 we are so happy to be celebrating you in Texas with our extended family. 🥳

"She stepped out of the sea and into her story".🌊📚Looking back at a piece of art long gone where the words and the visuals were just right for each other. Ps. This was sold at my solo show at .wrkd in 2024✨✨✨✨✨Ps. 2....heading on a yoga retreat with in St. Thomas this week. I plan on stepping out of sea and into my story too...

Two days that feel like spring. My hands are in the soil cleaning winter out of my flower pots and adding in pansies. ☀️Yet all my steps feel like this altered image..."these days".

I spent yesterday afternoon sewing eight months of tiny stitches onto this skirt. 🧵I repaired a tear in the back that led to cutting out a piece of this skirt & putting it back together again (pic 2). The yellow circle came about because I sewed a patch on the wrong side. When I work, I make mistakes and then go from there. These "mistakes" are always my favorite part when something is finished. ✨🫶. "There is such beauty in the small repairs"--my mantra. Ps. I could stitch all day long.

✨When is a piece of art complete?✨

I woke up yesterday and decided this fabric I have been stitching on since August is complete and needs to be stitched onto this skirt. 🧵🪡.

This is just a visual. The stitching needs to be done. I have been in a battle with my mom-in-love's sewing machine all afternoon (mom & I had a sleepover), so today may not be the day.

A little bit about this skirt:
🧵It was created by my dear friend Jody from a vintage table cloth about ten years ago. It is modeled after the green patched skirt that I had for 30 years.

🧵It was originally white & tan.

🧵I indigo dyed it with ...highly recommend.

🧵The patch on the right is vintage velvet, with a sun cyanotype I did in France. This patch is the back of the velvet.

As far as the stitching....

🪡I started this when I taught in the south of France last August. 🌻

🪡My dear friend gave me a piece of woad fabric she dyed and this stitched piece was born. I stitched on it all over France.

🪡I added on vintage fabric from on this piece. Her studio was amazing!!! I return again in July!

🪡there are so many mornings, moments and conversations stitched into this. It is a journal without words....🫶✨. When it is finished, I will share a picture while wearing it....hopefully on the beach!
