We're incredibly proud to share that Azar's multidisciplinary work on the NYS Department of Transportation's Annsville Circle Flood Mitigation project was recently recognized as the Environmental and Water Resource Project of the Year, awarded by ASCE Metropolitan Section. The $25M collaboration with lead designer Creighton Manning resulted in enhanced safety and reduced flooding along a key stretch of a U.S. Route 6/State Route 202 in Westchester County.

Prior to construction, Annsville Circle experienced flooding between 10 to 15 times per year, resulting in closures two to three times annually that would significantly disrupting traffic along the major north/south artery on the east side of the river. Using lightweight fill material manufactured from recycled glass, the project elevated the highway at the Annsville Circle by four feet and lifted other sections of the road in the vicinity of the circle by as much as seven feet.

This award is the culmination of our transportation, site/civil engineering, and landscape architecture team's dedication to resiliency, environmental stewardship, and community safety. We worked closely with one another, as well as with the NYSDOT and Creighton Manning teams to prepare specialized construction notes, phased drawings, details, and fine grading analyses, ensuring critical components were successfully addressed. Hats off to a great evening at the Botanical Bash 🌹🐎 Azar enjoyed attending this year’s Kentucky Derby themed event at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens as a Daily Doubler Sponsor. It was especially meaningful to celebrate at a destination where we’ve had the pleasure of working on projects on site in the past.
