Bills' Keon Coleman injury diagnosis revealed after he was seen in boot The Buffalo Bills have gotten a critical injury update on Keon Coleman after he went down in Saturday's preseason game.

James Cook has climbed all the way to No. 20 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026, voted on by NFL players.

The Bills RB is coming off the best season of his career, leading the NFL with 1,621 rushing yards while adding 12 rushing TDs and earning Second-Team All-Pro honors.

Cook averaged a league-best 95.4 rushing yards per game and recorded nine 100-yard performances during the regular season.

After ranking No. 89 last year, Cook has made an enormous jump into the NFL's top 20.

The first look at Jim Leonhard's new Buffalo Bills defense was an impressive one.

Buffalo forced Carolina's starting offense into three consecutive three-and-outs during a 29-14 preseason victory, with second year DT Deone Walker among the biggest standouts.

Walker recorded three tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack, but his comments afterward might have impressed the coaching staff even more.

“I can't look at myself. I look at the team. The team looks good. We look like we're firing on all cylinders.”

That mentality fits exactly what Leonhard has been preaching since arriving in Buffalo: a defense that operates as one unit, attacks offenses rather than reacts to them and understands how every piece works together.

It's only preseason, but the early signs suggest Buffalo's players are buying into Leonhard's vision.

Buffalo Bills are throwing EVERYTHING at the wall defensively.

New defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard is wasting no time putting his stamp on Buffalo's defense, giving a huge number of players first-team reps during training camp.

After years of playing in Sean McDermott's 4-3 system, Buffalo is transitioning to Leonhard's more aggressive 3-4 defense, and that means almost every position is up for grabs.

ESPN's Ben Solak summed up the approach perfectly:
🗣️ “The Bills are throwing everyone at the wall right now defensively and seeing what sticks.”

Players including Javon Solomon, DeWayne Carter, Kani Walker, Sam Franklin Jr., Phidarian Mathis, Jordan Hancock, Geno Stone and Zane Durant have all received first-team opportunities.

Rookie safety Jalon Kilgore and second-year defensive lineman Landon Jackson, who bulked up to move inside, have also been turning heads at camp.

The reason for all the experimentation? A lot of Buffalo's current roster was built specifically for McDermott's system.

Now Leonhard wants to find out who fits HIS defense best….regardless of experience or reputation.

It could mean some growing pains early.

Keon Coleman knows how important the 2026 season could be for his future in Buffalo.

Coleman has described this year as “make or break,” but he believes having Joe Brady as head coach could help him take the next step.

“I wholeheartedly believe that,” Coleman said after Brady made it clear the Bills aren’t giving up on their young WR.

With DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir expected to have major roles, Coleman is battling Josh Palmer for opportunities on the outside, making the preseason especially important for the former second-round pick.

The Bills are officially bringing back safety Wande Owens, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo via his agent Sean Stellato.

After originally joining the team as an undrafted free agent last year, Owens was released by Buffalo on July 31. Following workouts with four other NFL teams over the past two weeks, the young defensive back now returns to Buffalo to compete for a spot in the secondary.
