A small congregation of approximately 300 individuals and families, we are a close-knit, culturally diverse community in the northeast section of the city of Buffalo, NY. Founded in 1906, the parish has reflected the many changes that have occurred in the neighborhood and the city over more than a century. Vincent de Paul parishes closed and their congregations merged into Blessed Trinity. In 2008, the former St. Gerard parishes closed. Once more, new faces and new ideas are contributing to the faith life of this evolving community. We welcome all persons seeking to grow in the love of God and the service of one's neighbor. Our present church building is an architectural landmark, on the National Register of Historic Places, and attracts visitors from all over the world. We participate in the New York Landmarks Conservancy's Sacred Sites Open House Weekend, New York State's Path Through History Weekends, and Explore Buffalo tours each year; group tours can be scheduled at other times of the year by contacting the rectory (716-833-0301).

October already? Get inspiration - see photo and try out their website for ideas. Deacons, priests, parents, sisters, everyone is welcome. Surprises for all age groups. Join the competition: Pumpkin Saints

Take home a pumpkin cut out and dress your pumpkin like a saint. You can use old cards, felt, beads, construction paper, yarn, curled paper, ribbon, paint and crayons - just about anything you want. Choose a saint. Here are a few ideas: St Mother Theresa, St. Francis, St Carlo Acutis, St Maximilian Kolbe, St. Oscar Romero, St. Josephine Bakhita, St. Martin de Porres, even St. Nicholas! Write a few sentences or a whole page telling something about the Saint that you chose and why he or she was chosen. Bring back the description and your pumpkin Saint by Sunday, October 25. Prizes for all ages from preschool to grandpas and grandmas - even priests and deacons. Have fun!

The Pumpkin Prayer
Open my mind so that I can learn about You (cut off the top.) Take away all my sin and forgive me the wrong things that I have done (clean out the inside.) Open my eyes so Your love I will see (cut out eyes.) I’m sorry for turning up my nose to all you have given me (cut out a nose.) Open my ears so Your word I will hear (cut two ears.) Open my mouth to tell others You’re near (cut out a mouth.) Let Your light shine in me so that others can see (add a candle.) Amen.

Happy All Hallow’s Eve from all of us at Heart of Buffalo Catholic Community East!
