Six years ago today, we lost a giant of the Civil Rights Movement and the conscience of Congress: Congressman John Lewis. He reminded us that ordinary people have the power to create extraordinary change and that the fight for a more perfect union never ends.

Today, we honor his life and legacy by continuing the work he dedicated his life to: protecting the right to vote, standing up for justice, and getting into “good trouble.” My House Democratic colleagues and I will never stop fighting for equality in the pursuit of a more perfect union.

House Republicans unveiled yet another budget scheme that will spend another $73 billion taxpayer dollars on Trump’s disastrous war with Iran. The same politicians telling you that there's no money to lower health care, childcare, or energy costs are making you finance a war nobody asked for.

A budget is a statement of values, and this one puts endless wars ahead of the American people. House Democrats will keep fighting for a budget that lowers costs, strengthens families, and puts America's working people first.

Donald Trump promised no new wars and then proceeded to throw us into a RECKLESS and COSTLY war of choice with Iran. There was a ceasefire, and he broke it.

Donald Trump CANNOT be trusted.

Trump’s Big Ugly Law is creating uncertainty & confusion for students pursuing critical health care careers.

That’s why I’m supporting Congressman Timothy Kennedy’s Loan Equity for Advanced Professionals Act to raise loan limits to help our future health care workforce afford educational opportunities.

Since Trump’s war in Iran began, American families have paid a total of $56.4 billion more at the gas pump. That’s an average of $477 per household.

Working families shouldn’t have to foot the bill for an illegal war they never asked for and Congress didn’t authorize. This is America Last.

Man fatally shot by ICE in Maine was not intended target of warrant, lawmakers say 07/14/2026

In the United States of America, it goes against our core values to have federal agents running rampant in our streets and operating with deadly impunity. Every use of lethal force by one of these agencies demands transparency, accountability, and justice for the victim and their loved ones.

The American people are less safe with ICE terrorizing our communities. Whether House Republicans decide to finally hold the administration accountable now, or it takes until January, I will not rest until every allegation of misconduct, abuse, and excessive use of force is fully investigated and those responsible are held accountable.

Man fatally shot by ICE in Maine was not intended target of warrant, lawmakers say Maine Sen. Angus King said he told Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin that he wanted a transparent investigation into the shooting in Biddeford.

SNAP Tracker: People Are Losing Food Assistance as the Republican Megabill Is Implemented 07/14/2026

One year after Trump and House Republicans forced their Big Ugly Law through Congress, the damage is undeniable: an estimated 1.5 million American children have lost access to food assistance.

No child should go hungry so billionaires can get another tax break. I’ll keep fighting to protect SNAP, lower costs for working families, and make sure every kid has the food they need to grow, learn, and thrive.

SNAP Tracker: People Are Losing Food Assistance as the Republican Megabill Is Implemented SNAP participation nationwide fell by more than 4 million people (nearly 10 percent) between the law’s July 2025 enactment and March 2026, based on the latest month of data.

Our nation must be prepared to prevent and respond to terrorist threats in every circumstance, including during the harshest winter weather. That’s why I’m proud to announce that my WINTER Act has passed the House.

Western New York knows winter weather all too well, and we know that severe winter storms can complicate emergency response, making this legislation an important step toward ensuring our nation is prepared for any threat, in any season, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

Trump fires election commission members in latest attempt to control voting process 07/13/2026

Here is yet another example of the blatant abuse of power that the American people are fed up with: ousting members of a bipartisan federal agency that helps to secure our elections.

Donald Trump and Republicans know they cannot win on the strength of their record, so they continue to undermine the independent institutions that safeguard our democracy.

Americans deserve free and fair elections, not political interference designed to tilt the playing field.

Trump fires election commission members in latest attempt to control voting process With planning for the midterm elections well underway, President Trump has ousted the remaining members of a bipartisan federal agency that helps state and local officials run smooth elections and certify voting equipment. White House correspondent Liz Landers explains what happened at the Election....

Bipartisan housing bill automatically becomes law after Trump refuses to sign it 07/13/2026

Trump has spent every day using the presidency to enrich himself while working families struggle to make ends meet. Now, in the middle of the worst affordability crisis in a generation, he refused to sign a historic bipartisan housing bill because, in his mind, rigging the midterm elections is more important.

Trump has already shown us where his priorities lie: billions for himself, higher housing costs for everyone else. Thankfully, this bill had enough bipartisan support to still become law, but only after Trump tried to use the housing crisis as a bargaining chip. This is the behavior of an out-of-touch, corrupt administration that does not care about the economic security of Americans. House Democrats will not stop fighting for working-class Americans to live a life they can afford.
