Domestic violence can affect anyone – no matter their age, race, gender, religion or faith tradition, ZIP code or income.
1 in 3 teenagers, 1 in four women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence.
Strangulation is among the most lethal forms of domestic violence, increasing the domestic violence homicide risk by 750%.
Reported strangulations in Western New York are increasing, and being documented as more severe.
Strangulation survivors may experience changes to their voice and breathing.
No visible external injuries are present in about half of strangulation survivors, even in cases that lead to death.
No visible injuries are needed to prove you were hurt or harmed.
Strangulation resources are available.

Make sure you don't miss Wellness on William this Friday, August 7th, organized by the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH). This annual event features health screenings, basket raffles, food, community vendors, and lots more.

Yellow Dot is a free program designed to help first responders provide medical attention after a crash or other emergency. The dot in the driver’s-side rear window of your vehicle will alert first responders that medical info is in the glovebox. Kits containing the dot and info cards can be ordered at nysheriffs.org/yellowdot.
