Yesterday was a fun-filled day of learning, creativity, and exploration for some of our middle schoolers!

LPP students from Dunkirk and Jamestown had the opportunity to explore the National Comedy Center, discovering the world of comedy and enjoying an interactive experience. Then, they headed over to the Pearl City Clay House where they got to let their creativity shine while painting their own mugs, plates, and bowls!

We love providing our students with opportunities to learn, explore, create, and have fun together!

Week 3, Day 2 of Summer Camp (7/21)

As we approach the finals days of camp, it’s hard to believe how quickly the summer has flown by! From career exploration and hands-on experiences to new friendships and impacting our communities, our students have embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.

We look forward to making the most of these last few days together and creating even more memories. What better place to start than Dave & Buster's. Students enjoyed some free time, exciting games, friendly competition and a great lunch.

The excitement continued at 5 Wits where students worked together to conquer an immersive escape room challenge. It was a great opportunity for fun but also to hone their individual strengths and collaborate as a team.

🌟 Fun Fact: Escape rooms are designed to challenge both the left and right sides of the brain, combining logic, creativity, observation, and teamwork. 🌟

Thank you Dave and Busters and 5 Wits for creating such a fun and memorable day!

Week 3, Day 1 of Camp (7/20)

Our LPP and ECHS Students kicked off Week 3 with a day of exploration and learning.

🎭 In the morning, students toured JCC’s Scharmann Theater. They were able to get a behind the scenes look and participated in a fun, improv acting activity.

🩺 In the afternoon, we went to The Chautauqua Center and had the opportunity to learn from a variety of healthcare professionals. Students gained valuable insights into several healthcare careers. They also learned about how The Chautauqua Center provides essential medical, dental and behavioral health services that help improve the health and wellbeing throughout our community.

🀩A big thank you to JCC Scharmann Theater and The Chautauqua Center for providing such engaging and educational experiences. And thank you to the providers at TCC for taking the time from your busy schedules to meet and speak with our students. 🀩

✨ Fun Fact: Improvisational acting helps strengthen communication, confidence, and problem-solving skills. ✨

Our students recently had the opportunity to give back to their communities through a variety of meaningful service projects.

Chautauqua County Humane Society-Students toured the shelter, helped with daily chores, learned about animal enrichment and behavior, created enrichment items, and had the opportunity to meet some of the animals.🐾

Highbanks Campground-students spent time beautifying the campground. They spent their day planting and watering flowers, helping to create a welcoming environment for campers and visitors. πŸ•οΈ

Rural Ministries-students had an opportunity to prepare food for community members. They also worked in the Garment Gallery, helping organize and provide clothing resources for those in need.

Seneca Veterans Powwow-students volunteered at the recent Powwow, working in admissions, registration, and as ushers and hosts. In addition, they had the opportunity to experience the rich cultural traditions of the Seneca Nation, honor veterans, and learn the importance of celebrating Indigenous heritage. πŸͺΆ

Thank you to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, Highbanks Campground Chautauqua County Rural Ministry and Seneca Veterans Pow Wow, for welcoming our students and providing an experience that encouraged learning, compassion, and community service.

JCC LPP/ECHS Camp – Week 2, Day 3

Today was another exciting day of learning, teamwork, and career exploration!

πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ The morning began with students learning different yoga poses and mantras, followed by a guided yoga practice by Heather Gregory. They discovered the benefits of mindfulness, focus, and physical wellness while having fun trying new poses.

🏭 In the afternoon, students toured JCC Manufacturing, where they learned about a variety of skilled trades and career pathways in the manufacturing industry and the skills needed to succeed.

πŸ“± Campers participated in an activity focused on identifying social media "red flags" from an employment prospective.

πŸ—οΈ To wrap up the day, students were split into teams and challenged to create the tallest free-standing tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows! We loved seeing the creativity that went into this activity. Congratulations to our winners!

Fun Fact: Your online presence can make a first impression before you ever meet a future employer. That's why maintaining a positive digital footprint is just as important as building a strong resume! πŸ“±βœ¨

Thank you so much to those that made today possible! SUNY JCC Manufacturing and Heather Gregory thank you for taking the time to engage with our students.
