Korok community convention in Manchester, New Hampshire

A New Dawn: Korok Community Reunites and Elects Philip Garang Aguot Aguot as President

The Korok Community in the United States of America has officially ended more than four years of deep division. Yesterday, on September 5, 2026, community members gathered in Manchester, New Hampshire, to close a long chapter of dispute, by successfully passing a new constitution and electing a single leader to guide them forward under one United Korok Community.

The division within the community began during a devastating wildfire that claimed the lives of 37 people. Remembered as the darkest chapter in Korok history, the tragedy left deep emotional scars and sparked a multi-year dispute that fractured community leadership.
Early attempts to heal and bring the community back together ultimately failed.

The pain of that initial division was later compounded by another monumental loss, the passing of the Korok Paramount Chief, Sultan Achein Achein Yor, who was widely known as Achein-maluec. His death marked yet another dark period for the Korok people, but it also persuade divided community to come together.

After years of fragmentation, yesterday’s gathering in Manchester, New Hampshire, represented a historic turning point. Community members worked together to amend and officially pass a new constitution, establishing a solid legal and cultural foundation for their shared future.

With a new constitution in place, the community held a highly anticipated and fiercely contested presidential election. Three exceptionally strong candidates stepped forward to vie for the leadership:

1.Paulino Longar Ateny
2. Philip Garang Aguot Aguot
3. Brimo Akec Nyinkuany

When the ballots were counted, Philip Garang Aguot Aguot emerged as the definitive choice of the people. He won the election by securing 65.4% of the votes from eligible voters, granting him a clear mandate to lead the newly unified community. .
The election results have brought a widespread sense of relief and hope to Korok families in the USA, across the world, as well as Aweil Community in the United States of America.

Congratulations to President Philip Aguot and to the entire Korok Community in the USA on achieving peace, unity, and a fresh start.
