Here's a few pictures of this past week of Allie and Christina helping me haul water for our animals, 2 barrels at a time, pitching hay and mending the fence. Many thanks for all their help and hard work. And thank you to my dear friends Betty for letting me get water from her house and Jackie for letting me use her truck. Hopefully we only have one more day of hauling water until the well pump is replaced. And I took a picture of our 17 year old Patty Cake still nursing her calf! Looks like she's not going to wean her on her own and I'll have to. Have a blessed day and we hope to see y'all soon! Buckets O' Love, Cowgrammy ๐ฅฐ๐๐

Good morning friends,
What a week it's been! Last Thursday my water well pump quit working and the well service company confirmed it on Friday the pump froze up. Again! And they won't be able to come replace it until Tuesday. This will be the 3rd pump they've put in in what, 3 years? Another company had put one in the year before that! And many more before that in our 36 years here. I've been told that the calcium builds up and clogs the motor along with the flooding churning up everything in the caverns.
With the help of friends I've been hauling water for our animals in barrels.
The cost of replacing the well pump each time is about $3,800. And due to the water issue, they'll only warranty the pump for a year. ๐ข If you can help us with a donation and or share this post, I'd appreciate it so much!

Howdy friends,
Update:
The Cibolo Creek is receding but still flooding the low water crossings on Obst Rd by Spechts and at Bulverde Rd off Borgfeld.
You can still get here from the Hwy 281 and 1863/Bulverde Rd exit. Go west on Bulverde Rd through town and turn left on Ammann Rd. Then left on Leroy Scheel Rd and we're about a mile down on the left.
Or from Hwy 46, take Bulverde Rd and turn right on Ammann Rd. Then left on Leroy Scheel Rd. We're down about a mile on the left. Please watch for our sign at the gate. GPS pins the wrong driveway.
This video is of the Cibolo Creek flooding the banks and our road on Leroy Scheel. You can see the horse statue at Tejas Rodeo! Boerne is experiencing heavy flooding and they control the flood gates on the Cibolo Creek. The low water crossings on Ammann Rd are also flooded. And I heard that Comal County is out of barricades (?), please turn around and don't drown! Stay safe and blessings to all! Hugs, Cowgrammy ๐ฅฐ๐๐ PS: the video link had issues, I'll try to find another one. Here's a photo I took yesterday of the entrance to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The Cibolo is most likely flooding the road where I was now.

I'm at a loss for words that I can post here in public except, "I Ditto that" Tejas Rodeo! I've enjoyed and supported rodeos since I was a kid in the 70's at Kickers Korner, rode the weeklong trail rides that promoted the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and for almost 30 years I've enjoyed our local Tejas Rodeo with my children and grandchildren. My thanks to Tejas for sharing this. Hugs, Cowgrammy ๐๐

Our mission has always been to keep Texas traditions and Western heritage alive through rodeo, education, and authentic experiences that immerse guests in the history, values, and spirit of the American West.
Recently, Viator/Tripadvisor adopted a new animal welfare policy that prohibits the sale of tickets for rodeos, resulting in the removal of all rodeos from its platform, including our Saturday Night Rodeo at Tejas Rodeo Company.
While we respectfully disagree with the removal of rodeos from Viator's platform, our greatest concern extends beyond this decision. Viator has publicly stated its intention to lead the travel industry on this issue, raising concerns that other online travel agencies could follow suit. If that happens, it could become more difficult for travelers from around the world to discover and experience one of America's most authentic cultural traditions.
Rodeo is far more than entertainment. It is the Official State Sport of Texas and a living expression of the values that define the American West, including hard work, stewardship, respect for the land and livestock, and a deep sense of community. For generations, it has connected families to the traditions and way of life that continue to shape Texas today.
That is why the timing of this decision is especially significant. As our nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary, rodeo is being honored on one of our country's most prominent stages. The official America 250 celebration on the National Mall features a rodeo as part of its programming, recognizing the cowboy as a symbol of the American spirit and honoring the men and women whose grit, determination, and resilience helped shape the American West. As the America 250 organizers said, "The story of the cowboy is the story of America." We couldn't agree more.
We hope the travel industry will recognize the important role rodeo plays in preserving and sharing America's story.
We remain committed to the highest standards of animal care and to preserving the traditions that make Texas and America unique. We believe rodeo is more than an event. It is a living part of our history, our heritage, and our identity that deserves to be celebrated and shared.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support rodeo and help keep these traditions alive.
๐บ๐ธHappy 250th Independence Day! May God Bless America! I'm so thankful for all our Military and First Responders who have been there for us. ๐
๐Howdy folks! We'll be open for drop in for Cow Appreciation Day, Wednesday, 07.08.26. 10-12pm.
Every day is Cow Appreciation Day at The Farmyard! Come see our newest calf and our oldest 17 year old cow! Patty Cake amazes me! At her old age she still gets up every morning and nurses her calf Annabelle. Here's a video of them together yesterday. If you turn up the volume you can hear the soothing sound of her nursing and the water filling the cistern. Oh, Annabelle turned 1yo on June 25th. I normally wean Holstein calves at 6-8 months, which would have put her weaning in the winter. That's usually not an issue, but since she was such a teeny little calf and momma was doing good and still making milk I've kept them together. Plus, it's kept Patty Cake from coming into heat again. So, I'm letting nature take it's course and she will wean when she's ready. Gotta love 'em! Buckets O' Love, Cowgrammy ๐ฅฐ๐๐
