๐ What does a BOC-3 filing really do?
BOC-3 is the name for a process agent that is able to accept legal papers for your trucking company in the states that you work in.
But hereโs what it doesnโt do: BOC-3 does not grant operating authority, does not replace your MC or USDOT number, and does not need to be renewed each year.
Itโs one step in the FMCSA operating authority process โ but an important one to get right.

Driverless doesnโt mean lawless ๐
Self-driving trucks are moving toward wider use, and federal safety rules still matter.
DOT and FMCSA are working to clarify how existing regulations apply to driverless commercial vehicles, including vehicle inspections, maintenance, carrier responsibility, and on-road operations.
Self-driving technology may change who is behind the wheel, but not the need for safety oversight.
We think one of the biggest hurdles for driverless trucks could be public acceptance.
What do you think?

๐ DOT takes new steps to improve compliance in the trucking industry.
Increased attention is focused on CDL training providers, third-party testers, carriers, and licensing practices due to recent federal enforcement initiatives.
And thereโs a practical takeaway for current and future drivers: check your CDL training provider before you enroll. Ensure the school is on the official Training Provider Registry of the FMCSA.
๐ What do these enforcement actions mean to the trucking industry?

๐ฐAccording to the San Francisco Chronicle, federal pressure has led California to begin revoking roughly 17,000 commercial driverโs licenses issued to immigrants โ one of the largest enforcement actions in years.
What this means for carriers & fleets:
๐ Zero-error compliance: Sudden shifts leave no room for mistakes.
๐ Tighter insurance scrutiny: Underwriters are reviewing driver rosters more aggressively.
๐ซ Operational hits: A single revoked CDL can disrupt schedules, scores, and coverage.
๐ผ Higher risk + higher costs: Expect more documentation demands โ and potential premium increases.
In a climate where enforcement can change overnight, proactive compliance is your strongest defense.

In this video from Pharr, TX, a truck is burning and people on scene are struggling to explain the emergency to 911 in English - even stopping to discuss what 911 is. ๐
This isnโt about blaming immigrants or accents - itโs about safety. FMCSA requires CDL drivers to read and speak English well enough to talk to the public, understand road signs, and respond to officials. ๐ง๐
For carriers, that means making sure drivers and yard staff can:
โข Call 911 and share basic details ๐ฑ
โข Follow instructions in a crisis โ ๏ธ
โข Communicate with police, fire, and inspectors ๐๐
At DOT Operating Authority, we help motor carriers stay compliant with FMCSA regulations and safety requirements. ๐๐ก๏ธ
