Meet Miguel! 👋

Miguel is a Shipping/Receiving Lead for Basden Steel's KCR location in Burleson and has been with us for 3 years. His favorite part of working at Basden Steel is the community — everyone is willing to help and share their knowledge, and there's always an opportunity to grow beyond your original role. His favorite memory is Tom's Coffee Truck during ESOP Month, saying a free, unexpected cup of coffee is one of the best feelings there is.

To Miguel, being an Employee Owner means taking pride in his work, knowing it directly benefits his future. He's shown that pride through real results — helping receive and stage 7 million pounds of material in a single month, something never done before, while also closing the gap between the office and live receiving.

Outside of work, Miguel enjoys time with his amazing wife, son, and cat, along with grilling for his family, camping, and road trips.

Today, we remember all the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. We honor the innocent lives taken, the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless families affected who carry a grief far heavier than we will ever know.

In remembrance we hold an obligation to continue the legacy of those we honor. Today, let's focus not only on the sacrifices given, but give ourselves to sacrificial love, and serve those around us.

Everyone Meet Courtney! 👋

Courtney is a Project Coordinator at Basden Steel's facility in Denham Springs, LA. and has been with us for 2 years! Courtney's favorite thing about working at Basden Steel is seeing each project come to life; from drawing to reality, she is able to watch a project evolve in its development. Her favorite memory at Basden Steel so far is winning the 2025 Rising Eagle Award last year!

To Courtney, being an Employee Owner means that she is personally invested in the success of the company. It gives her a sense of pride, accountability, and purpose as she knows that the work she does contributes both to the growth of the company, and to her own future! She says it motivates her think like an owner: supporting her coworkers and looking for opportunities of improvement and success.

Outside of work, Courtney has two young adult children. She enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and playing pool! Before Basden Steel, she served 11 years in the Military, 4 years on active duty in the Navy as an Aviation Administrator, and 7 years in the Louisiana National Guard as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

Ezequiel is the Plant Manager at Basden Steel's Briaroaks (KCR) facility in Burleson and has been a valued member of the Basden Team for 14 years!

His favorite part about working at Basden Steel is the people. He considers his coworkers to be his Basden family and especially enjoys getting together with everyone at the annual Basden Christmas party. To Ezequiel, being an Employee Owner means taking pride in his work every day, knowing that his efforts contribute to something bigger and help create a stronger future for everyone.

Outside of work, Ezequiel loves spending time with his amazing wife and their two beautiful daughters! His interests involve weightlifting, outdoor activities with his girls, and watching scary movies with his eldest daughter.

Everyone meet Karen! 👋

Karen is a Divisional Accountant at our Burleson location and has been part of the Basden Steel team for 11 years. When asked what she enjoys most about working here, her answer was simple: the people. From company parties (especially Halloween 🎃), employee appreciation events, and fun giveaways to the flexibility and support of her team, Karen says her coworkers feel like family.

As an employee-owner, Karen values the security that comes with ownership. To her, ESOP means more than just a paycheck—it means building equity and retirement security without any out-of-pocket investment.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys gardening, reading, and baking. If you've spent any time in our Burleson office, chances are you've enjoyed one of her homemade treats! She also loves spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and new grandson. When she's not with family, you can find her taking road trips with her husband or spending time with her cats.

We had a great time celebrating our Basden Architectural Metals (BAM) shop yesterday for hitting 180 days incident-free. We marked the occasion with BBQ, prizes, t-shirts, and plenty of fun. Thank you to our BAM team for keeping safety front and center, your commitment helps ensure everyone goes home safe every day and continues to build the value of our ESOP. ✅

We want to take a moment to recognize the plant managers whose leadership has been instrumental in recent 90-day and 180-day incident-free milestones at their shop locations. While reaching these milestones is truly a team effort, your leadership plays a critical role in making them possible💪
