🇺🇸From 1976 to 2026... the story continues🇺🇸

Walker Park has been the backdrop for decades of memories, celebrations, and community traditions.

During our recent Semiquincentennial Time Capsule Celebration, Mayor Amy Jo Wittenberg shared a heartfelt look back at what Walker Park meant to her during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration. Her memories served as a beautiful reminder that while generations may change, the heart of our community remains the same.

It was an honor to have her give such a meaningful speech and for her help in selecting items for our new time capsule.
🎥 Take a look at this clip from her speech!

📜✨ History in the making! ✨📜

The Flagg Creek Heritage Society was able to carefully open the parchment scroll, one of the three incredible items preserved from the 1976 Time Capsule!

The scroll was signed by local residents who attended the original event in 1976. Take a look at the names — you may recognize some. 👀

The other items discovered in the time capsule include:
🇺🇸 The 1976 Bicentennial Program from the Pleasant Dale Park District
📖 A cookbook from the Pleasant Dale Civic Association

Be sure to stop by and experience these amazing pieces of our community’s past in person! ❤️

📍 Visit the museums:
🗓 Mondays — Flagg Creek Museum | 10am–1pm
🗓 Thursdays — Robert Vial House | 10am–12:30pm
🗓 First Sunday of the month — Both museums are open

Connect with our history, and celebrate the stories that helped shape our community! 🇺🇸✨

What an incredible event!✨🎤🌟🎹

We’re still talking about what a great time everyone had, and a huge part of that was due to the amazing performance from Reckless Chicago. Their performance had everyone smiling, singing along, and enjoying the evening. They created such a fun atmosphere and helped make the event one to remember.

We’re so grateful they were part of it and helped make the event such a success. Thank you, Reckless Chicago, for an outstanding performance and for giving everyone such a memorable experience! Until next time ... 😉

🎉 OH, what a night! 🎉

⌛The Time Capsule Celebration & Concert in the Park was a tremendous success! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this historic evening so special. Seeing our community come together for such a memorable occasion was truly incredible.

💕We were honored to hear inspiring remarks from Gary Grasso, Mayor of Burr Ridge; Amy Jo Wittenberg, Mayor of Indian Head Park; Alderman John Von Drasek of Countryside; Matt Russian, the President of the Pleasant Dale Park District; Park District Board Member Pat Gierut; Steve Rockrohr and Charlie Johnson of the Pleasant Dale Parks Foundation; and Christina Andino of the Flagg Creek Heritage Society.

The evening began with the beautiful voices of the LTHS Choir, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Boy Scout Troop 69. We then celebrated this historic milestone before closing out the night with an outstanding performance by Reckless Chicago. 🎤

We can't thank everyone enough for helping bring our community together once again. A special thank you to Total Life Chiropractic for sponsoring the band and helping make this unforgettable evening possible. 🩷

📸 Stay tuned over the coming days as we share more photos, videos, and stories from this monumental event—including a closer look at the Time Capsule and everything that made this celebration one for the history books!📚🎉
