We picked the remainder of our bell peppers and jalapeños for the season! Today was spent cutting and freezing the bell peppers, while the jalapeños were pickled! 🌶️🫑

Next will be the tomato’s!

We got to step away from the ranch this weekend and enjoy the changing leaves.! 🍂 A little mountain air, beautiful Colorado scenery, and time together. It felt good to slow down for a bit!

Sometimes our girls find unconventional places to build nest and lay eggs 😂🥚

With our increased production, we are happy to pass the savings on to our customers! We have a few eggs bundles available.

🔥 Cajun chicken skillet, Black Horse Ranch style!

Chicken, zucchini, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes tossed with bold Cajun seasoning! All cooked together in one pan. Plenty of flavor, fresh veggies, and no mountain of dishes afterward! 🙌

Need some dinner inspiration? Put that Black Horse Ranch chopped chicken to work and make this skillet your own. Adjust the Cajun seasoning for a little kick or turn up the heat! 🌶️

We are welcoming all this moisture! ⛈️

All our seasonal ponds are staying full and keeping the animals happy.

Pumpkins are starting to ripen up perfectly! 🎃

We’ve been exploring the original homesites here at Black Horse Ranch, and every little discovery makes us more curious about the people who lived on this land before us!

So far, we’ve found pieces of old pottery, metalwork, bottles, buttons and what looks like part of a stone foundation. We have also discovered original deeds bringing the families to the ranch via the homestead act in the late 1800s. It’s been pretty special to uncover bits of the ranch’s history right beneath our feet. We’ll share more as we learn more!

Regenerative farming starts with caring for the land. 🌱

At Black Horse Ranch, we rotate our livestock between pastures instead of allowing them to continuously graze the same ground! After grazing, each pasture rests for about six months, giving the grasses time to regrow, rebuild strong roots, and protect the soil.

This approach helps improve soil health, retain moisture, reduce erosion, and create stronger pastures for years to come!
