They said the passage of time would heal every wound,
but they never told me
that the greater the loss, the deeper the cut,
and the deeper the cut, the harder it is to become whole again.

The pain may fade with time,
but the scar remains a quiet reminder of what once broke us,
of what we lost,
and of the nights we survived in silence.

Some wounds close,
but they never truly disappear.
They become memories written on the soul,
teaching the heart to be careful
with what it loves,
with whom it trusts,
and where it lays itself bare.

Because every scar carries a lesson
it teaches the bearer
not to get hurt again.
