It’s Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating the people who show up and put in the work at Adapt every day. 💚

When someone shares their injury level, it gives us a starting point, not the whole story. A C6 injury, a T10 injury, or an L2 injury can each look completely different from one person to the next, depending on how much movement and sensation remains and a hundred other things that make someone who they are.

That’s why recovery here isn’t one-size-fits-all. We get to know the person first, then build around their goals, abilities, and pace.

Another year, another ALS San Diego Walk in the books, and what a morning it was!

We walk for our members behind the signs, and their families and care team supporting them. So many more names lining the route, each one a member of our community navigating ALS.

Tyler has been living with ALS since 2020, and every Wednesday he shows up ready to work his core with Jake and the Neubie.

Pads go on his upper and lower abdomen. Then it’s sit-ups off the edge of the table on a BOSU ball, intensity climbing each set (50 → 55 → 60) while the BOSU gets flatter and the challenge gets bigger.

Here’s the part that gets us every time: the second Tyler’s core is activated, he notices it in his walk. Better gait, better control, right there in the same session 😄

🌊 What a day at Surf Away! Our Adapt members hit the water this week for a day of sunshine, salt air, and pure stoke.

Volunteers, boards, and big smiles filled the beach from morning to afternoon. 🏄☀️ Whether it was someone’s first wave or their fifth Surf Away, the energy never let up.

Join us for a community workshop on the Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator (PoNS), a non-surgical device that uses electrical stimulation through the tongue to activate new pathways to the brain, supporting gait and balance for members navigating MS. 🧠

Dr. Revere Kinkel of UCSD will be joining to talk through medical decision making, helping members think through new technologies and treatment options alongside their care teams. We’ll also hear from the Bioness clinical team on how PoNS works and what the research shows.

Yesterday, four from our Adapt team took to the course for the Tyler’s Tribe Golf Tournament. Steve and Jagade from our team teed off alongside members Sam and Kevin, all playing to rally behind Tyler and support our ALS community ⛳️

Sheryl and Sam kept the energy going from the sidelines all day, cheering on every hole.
