In Episode 6 of Beginner’s Guide To Longboarding, Taylor breaks down the timing, positioning and patience behind great flow, and why you can’t force what the wave isn’t giving you.

The dropknee turn didn’t start with style. It started with function.

Back at Birds Surf Shed, Taylor Jensen and Bird Huffman dig into how surfers began using the move to get more leverage over bigger boards, better control their positioning, and go where they wanted to go on the wave. Over time, function became style, and the dropknee became one of longboarding’s defining power moves.

Episode 5 of Beginner’s Guide to Longboarding: The Dropknee Turn, is now playing at our link in bio.
