Behind the scenes in the shop! ⚙️ Anissa takes Jeremy through a critical teardown to inspect internal parts, teaching the exact steps for spotting microscopic cracks and tackling heavy carbon buildup.
Maintenance isn't just about oil changes—deep-dive inspections keep your RV power source running safe and strong over the road. 🚐💨 Save this for your next generator service check!
Can generators really explode?! 💥
When you're out on the road, an RV generator is a total lifesaver—until things go sideways. Regular maintenance isn't just a suggestion; skip it, and you might be looking at a major mechanical disaster.
Watch as Anissa (aka the Mistress of Generators 👑) breaks down the shocking failure she just uncovered for Rodney!

Just Jaxon doing what he does best. 💪
If you’ve ever wondered how we put those heavy-duty, grouped ends on our custom hoses, here’s a look at the machine that makes it happen. It’s a standard piece of gear for us, but it never gets old to watch.
No weak leaks, no cutting corners—just perfect precision every single time.
🚰 The "Science Experiment" in Your Wet Bay 🤢
Be honest. When was the last time you changed your RV water filter? 🤔
If you have to check your calendar, look through old receipts, or guess if it was "sometime during the last presidency," we have some news for you.
Water filters have a lifespan, and it tops out at six months.
After that? Your filter stops being a protective shield and starts hosting a subterranean science fair. We’re talking a full-blown, unregulated ecosystem right there in your inline system. Leave it long enough, and that forgotten canister can accumulate:
🦠 Mold & Mildew (The classic damp-basement flavor profile)
🦠 Legionella & Bacteria (The microscopic uninvited guests)
🦠 Fungus & Viruses (A high school biology project you didn't ask for)
⚠️ Other Dramatic Reasons to Swap It Out NOW:
The Scent of "Eau de Swamp": If your morning shower smells like a prehistoric marsh, it’s not the campground water. It’s the filter.
The Invisible Life Form: If your water pressure drops so low that washing dishes requires a rain dance, your filter isn't filtering anymore—it's clogged with sediment and primordial ooze.
The Ultimate Disgrace: Don't let your water filter become the reason your coffee tastes like a puddle. That is an American tragedy. ☕❌
The Fix is Easy: Drop the excuses, unscrew the canister, and swap that bad boy out. Your plumbing (and your immune system) will thank you.

[Blue Moon RV] is 📹 watching Jaxon work with Rodney Simmons.
If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to repair a stubborn LP Onan generator on a truck camper, the answer is: Master Onan training, and a crash course in Australian linguistics courtesy of Jaxon. 🇦🇺🛠️
Rodney got behind the camera to film this once a year repair job. We had a unit come in with faulty/stuck generator brushes. On paper, it sounds like a quick fix. In reality? Jaxon had to de-divorce the entire camper from the truck and pull the generator completely out from the bottom just to get it on the bench for a proper inspection, diagnosis, and testing.
Jaxon did all the brutal heavy lifting on this one, though trying to translate his commentary for the camera was the real challenge of the day.
According to him, the brushes were "right choked with dust," the housing was "chokko," and after a thorough cleaning and rebuild, she’s now "purring like a dead set legend." (For anyone without an Australian translator, that means it’s working perfectly). 🧐⚡
The generator is fully tested, reinstalled, and the camper is safely back on the truck. Check out the video to watch Jaxon do what he does best—even if Rodney had to guess what he was saying half the time! 👇
🕵️♀️ Diagnostics is like peeling an onion… sometimes you have to fix Problem A just to even see Problem B.
Remember yesterday’s generator nightmare? The one starved of basic, routine maintenance? Anissa got down and dirty performing the massive 500-hour service just to establish a baseline.
But as any real technician knows, getting it to fire up is only half the battle. 🔧
When a machine faces long-term neglect, the most obvious failures often mask deeper, underlying issues. In today’s update, Anissa walks us through what happens after the initial cleanup.
This project perfectly highlights the reality of high-level diagnostics: you literally have to resolve the first layer of problems just to properly stress-test and diagnose the next one. By methodically fixing each issue as it appeared, she was able to trace the symptoms all the way back to the absolute root cause of the breakdown. 🎯
Ever wonder what happens when generator maintenance slips through the cracks? 🛠️
In this video, one of our talented apprentices, Anissa, takes you behind the scenes as she tackles a comprehensive 500-hour service on a Cummins Onan generator.
This unit came in needing a little extra love due to some forgotten maintenance. Instead of just doing a quick oil change, Anissa dives deep into a true root-cause inspection. Watch as she:
Diagnoses the current condition of the unit and explains exactly what can get missed.
Breaks down the game plan to safely catch this generator back up on its factory schedule.
Points out critical components you need to know about to keep your power running smoothly.
At Blue Moon RV, we don’t believe in shortcuts. We believe in training the next generation of elite technicians to fix it right the first time.

If you want to save thousands of dollars on your rig, you don’t wait for the floor to fall out. You catch the problem while it’s still a warning sign. 🛠️
We’ve got a prime example in the shop right now: an **Entegra Class A motorhome** that rolled in with some early-stage water intrusion in the slide room.
In this video, Rodney breaks down exactly what happens when water gets where it should not. Left alone, this is the kind of moisture that quietly destroys structural integrity from the inside out.
The solution includes:
- Reinforcing structure
- Blocking additional water intrusion
- Mitigating any existing damage
Enter **Rod, the RV God**. 🔧 He dives into the actual engineering of the slide, pulling back the layers to show you our exact remediation process. Making this Class A is completely buttoned up and road-ready for years to come.
**The Blue Moon Takeaway:**
Water always wins if you let it sit. Catching this early means a straightforward remediation instead of a massive, ground-up structural rebuild down the road.
Got a slide that's acting up, feeling soft, or showing suspicious dark spots? Don't wait until the damage is done. Bring it to the team that digs deep to fix it right the first time.
