Renewal season gets loud fast.

If your support dates are scattered across vendors and contracts, budgeting gets messy and leverage disappears.

Co-terming your support contracts gives your team a cleaner planning window, fewer surprises, and more control before Q4 pressure hits.

If you want simpler renewals without sacrificing support quality, let’s talk.

We’re proud to announce our new partnership with Carahsoft, expanding access to Service IT Direct’s third-party maintenance and legacy infrastructure support solutions for the Public Sector.

Through this partnership, Government agencies and related organizations can access Service IT Direct’s support for enterprise servers, storage, and networking hardware through Carahsoft’s reseller ecosystem and contract vehicles, including SEWP V and NASPO ValuePoint.

At Service IT Direct, we believe organizations shouldn’t be forced into costly upgrades before they’re ready. This partnership helps agencies extend the life of critical systems, stay operational, improve budget control, and make modernization decisions on their own timeline.

We’re excited to work alongside Carahsoft, Craig Abod, and Erica Raymond as we bring flexible, reliable infrastructure support to more Public Sector teams.

With 15 years in the industry, John Menth has helped lead Service IT Direct with steady expertise, grit, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

But outside the server racks, one of the most meaningful parts of John’s story is his journey to becoming a father.

After more than 13 years of trying, that dream finally became real — a milestone that speaks volumes about the patience, resilience, and heart behind the leader our team knows every day.

We’re proud to spotlight not just SITD’s CEO, but the person behind the title. 💚

To the people who keep everything running behind the scenes, thank you for all you do.

Backups are only half the story. In this recovery, the customer had Ignite backups and fbackup sets.

We rebuilt the volume groups and started the restore path, only to hit another failure. The tape drive itself began hanging, throwing index issues, and eventually failed outright.

That’s a good reminder for any legacy environment: a backup strategy is not complete until the restore path is proven too.

Most outages don’t start with the whole environment. They start with one weak link.

One aging component. One unsupported dependency. One contract gap no one noticed until it mattered.

The smart move is finding that weak link before it finds you. A little proactive planning now can save a lot of pressure later.

Your systems are the headliner. We’re the crew making sure the show goes on.

The best support often happens behind the scenes: fast response, deep technical knowledge, steady hands, and a team that knows how to keep critical infrastructure performing without demanding the spotlight.

That’s what backstage support for frontline systems looks like.

When volume groups show up, it’s easy to assume the data is still there.

But in one recent recovery, we could see the volume groups, inspect the drive metadata, and even verify IDs, yet every real recovery path failed.

Why? Because visible metadata isn’t the same as intact data. After multiple VA7110 drive failures, the array couldn’t rebuild the logical units.

The headers were there. The usable data wasn’t. That distinction matters in legacy recovery work: what you can see is not always what you can restore.

Summer schedules change. Infrastructure risk doesn’t. When internal teams are taking PTO, systems still need coverage, response, and someone who can step in fast if something goes sideways.

The goal isn’t to interrupt your team’s time off. It’s to make sure the business stays steady while they take it. Because your systems don’t take PTO, your support plan shouldn’t either.
