Harriet, you are proud of being called the “Wicked Witch of the West.” You told the High Country News that an environmentalist bestowed that title on you years ago in an angry letter to the editor.

Offended by name-calling? Remember you dismiss opponents as “hysterical,” “immature,” “hypocrites” and “fearmongering radicals” among other slams.

More to the point, Harriet, you are treating your campaign as a coronation instead of an election.

Your own campaign website, https://www.hagemanforwyoming.com/, doesn’t have a calendar of appearances.

Your own congressional website calendars for September and October are blank.

Instead of facing voters, you roost in Washington, advocating legislation and rules changes that do not benefit Wyoming citizens. Fossil fuel interests, yes. Developers, yes.

But instead of reflecting your constituents, you continue to attack public lands protections such as the “Roadless Rule.” Your jihad against the Roadless Rule stretches back 25 years.

This includes your current legislation to “invalidate the ‘Special Areas; Roadless Area Conservation’ rule … and prohibits the Secretary of Agriculture from creating similar rules … the bill mandates that the Secretary of Agriculture, through the Chief of the Forest Service, must build certain permanent and temporary roads on lands managed by the National Forest System … These roads are to be constructed for purposes such as forest restoration, reducing hazardous fuels in areas near communities or water sources … replacing or removing existing roads that harm forest or watershed health, or to fulfill the objectives of an older law concerning national forests.”
