We restore homeless lives to community independence with the love of Christ. We also offer a Discipleship Recovery Program.

We do this by providing emergency shelter, and meals to individuals in our community who are homeless or needy.

We so appreciate Regina Patterson taking the time and care to cut 25 guests' hair this past weekend. We are thankful for all the ways she serves at Wyoming Rescue Mission.

Acts of love and service like this demonstrate the presence and heart of Christ that we see on display every day here at the Mission. Something as simple as a haircut can go a long way in restoring the dignity of one of our guests. The words of Christ in Matthew 25:40 come to mind when we see acts of kindness like this:

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Our verses for today come from Lamentations 3:22-23:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

These verses fill our hearts with so much hope and encouragement. Even in a book of lament, the Prophet Jeremiah was aware of the love and faithfulness of God. His goodness abides forever. In times of joy and in times of hardship. In youth and in old age. In times of surplus and in times of need. There is a season for everything in life, but God's kindness towards us in Christ never changes. (Hebrews 13:8)

We experience God's love for us through His Son Jesus Christ, who loved us first and gave Himself for us. At Wyoming Rescue Mission, He is our reason. Our doors remain open to the broken and hurting 24/7, 365 days a year. We want to model the faithfulness of God to our community the same way he does: without ceasing. And we say with confidence: Great is your faithfulness, Lord Jesus.

If there are any verses you've been clinging to lately, let us know in the comments! We pray you have a blessed weekend.

Our verse today comes from Galatians 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

For those of us who belong to Jesus Christ, we understand that our lives are no longer our own. We have been bought with a price (I Cor. 6:20). At the moment of salvation, God's Spirit comes to live in us, transforming our hearts and conforming our desires to be in line with God's desires. Because He died for us, we are to live for Him. Paul speaks of this oneness and unity with Christ, as though we were actually crucified along with Him. Jesus speaks of this idea in John 15, that we are to abide in Him, and He in us.

Many other religions preach a god who is far off, unconcerned with human affairs. Our God is so intimate and near that He lives in us, and we in Him. He partook of our nature and suffering, and we get to partake of His glorious resurrection and victory over sin and death.

At Wyoming Rescue Mission, guests are introduced to this transformative power of the Gospel. They are encouraged to nail their former life, addictions, sorrows, and broken relationships to the cross, and to step into the new life that Jesus has for them. All they need to do is receive it by faith, and we come alongside to encourage them, and provide community and fellowship with others who are doing the same.

We pray you consider these truths in your life and that your weekend is blessed. And as He died for us, may we live for Him.

Our scripture focus for today is Psalm 147:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

When we consider the devastating 9/11 attacks that occurred 25 years ago today, we understand that forces of evil in this world truly exist. While the evil of that day was clearly evident, the good that came in response inspires hope. Courageous first responders who gave their lives to save others. American citizens coming together in unity across the country.

God sees and understands our sorrow and He has compassion. That is most evidently seen at the cross, as He can personally empathize with human suffering. And upon studying the Gospels, the emotion that Jesus experienced most often was that of compassion. The Bible mentions Him being moved with compassion for others 12 times. He heals the brokenhearted. He binds up our wounds.

At Wyoming Rescue Mission, we make it our aim to be His hands and feet to the broken hearted and hurting. Our Biblical worldview stands in contrast to the secular one, because when we see the heartache and suffering that many come to us carrying, we know that there is hope. We communicate this to them through the Gospel. We know that there is a God who has made a way for mankind to find freedom from sin and sorrow, and to find life and joy in abundance (John 10:10).

We remember the many people who lost their lives 25 years ago, and we pray for the families who are still affected. The stories of heroism, courage and unity give us hope that man is capable of more good than he sometimes realizes, especially in the face of evil.

We pray your weekend is blessed and that we all consider how we can be a force for good.

Our kitchen has a need! 7,406 total meals were served to our guests in August! That is over 7,000 times that our dishes were used in just one month. 😱

You can imagine the wear and tear on our plates and utensils. This month we need to replace the trays we use.

We are grateful for any amount given towards the $500 total cost! Link to donate in the comments below! 👇👇
