As our region experiences significant smoke, we want to remind community members that if you simply observe smoke in the atmosphere, do not call 911. Save the lines for critical life-and-death situations.

As weather patterns quickly change over the coming days, we anticipate an increase of smoke in our area from fires happening elsewhere.

At this time only call 911 if you see active, visible flames. This helps ensure that our dispatchers and first responders can prioritize the most critical incidents, potentially saving lives.

We sincerely appreciate our community’s efforts to keep our area safe during this particularly dangerous fire season.

The next Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting is on August 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm MST.
The meeting will be held in person at Natrona County Public Health, located at 1017 S. Conwell, Casper, WY 82601. When you arrive, please use the West Side Main Door Entrance.

🚨 EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH & FIRE WEATHER WARNING 🚨
An Excessive Heat Watch will be in effect for Natrona County from 12 PM this Saturday until 9 PM on Monday. The US National Weather Service Riverton Wyoming has high confidence that we will experience a significant heat wave, with temperatures running about 15 degrees hotter than our normal mid-summer highs.

Here is what you can expect in the Casper area:

Saturday: High temperatures reaching around 98°F.

Sunday: This is expected to be the hottest day of the heat wave, with Casper reaching up to 101°F. Some areas may approach all-time record highs.

Monday: The intense heat continues with highs remaining near 101°F.

Critical Fire Danger: The combination of these extreme temperatures, exceptionally low relative humidity (dropping to 7% on Sunday), and increasing south to southwest wind gusts up to 29 mph will create elevated and critical fire weather conditions throughout the weekend.

🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE: MEDICAL POWER STATION AVAILABLE 🚨

If you are currently without power and need temporary electricity for essential small medical devices (like Oxygen Concentrators), or if you just need a temporary shelter with power, there is a place.

We are working with the Wyoming Army National Guard and have opened up the Armory as a safe location for those in need of these services while the power is out.

Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo Parade Route and Safety Information

Casper, Wyoming (June 24, 2026) – The Casper Police Department is releasing the official route map for the 2026 Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo Parade, scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00am in downtown Casper.

The attached map identifies the parade route, staging areas, and public parking locations.
To prepare for the event, all vehicles must be removed from the parade route by 6:00am on July 7. Vehicles remaining on the route after that time may be towed.

A 5K run will begin at 9:00am, immediately preceding the parade. The parade is expected to conclude around 12:00pm, and streets will reopen on a rolling basis as participants clear the area.

"While the community sees a few hours of festivities on parade day, months of planning take place behind the scenes," said Traffic Sergeant Carl Krugler. "The Casper Police Department works closely with our public safety and community partners to coordinate traffic management, emergency response, and event security so residents and guests can enjoy a safe and successful parade."

Residents and visitors should plan ahead for traffic delays and road closures. Anyone who lives or works along the parade route is encouraged to make travel and parking arrangements in advance.

Safety Reminders
• Stay on sidewalks and out of the roadway.
• Keep children within sight at all times.
• Stay hydrated and prepare for summer temperatures.
• Follow all posted signs, traffic control devices, and officer directions.

Tomorrow marks the opening day of the Central Wyoming Fair & PRCA Rodeo, July 3-11.

As we welcome our community and visitors for another great year, the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is committed to helping make the fair a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Our deputies will be present throughout the fairgrounds each day and evening. While you’re enjoying the rides, exhibits, rodeo, and all the fair has to offer, please keep a close eye on your children and know your teens’ plans and whereabouts.

The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office has zero tolerance for unaccompanied minors involved in fighting, theft from vendors, underage alcohol or to***co use, or any other illegal activity. Anyone disturbing the peace or committing crimes may be held responsible for their actions and trespassed from the fairgrounds.

For everyone’s safety, additional lighting and visible security cameras are in place around the parking areas, carnival, and rodeo grounds. If you see suspicious activity or have an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately and notify the nearest deputy or fair staff member.

If you’re driving to or from the fairgrounds, use extra caution and watch for pedestrians and livestock in the area. Before you arrive, choose a family meeting location in case you become separated. Lost & Found is located at the Fair Base Building on the northeast side of the rodeo arena.
