📈Medical Notes:
Janis entered BARC after being found as a stray. She tested high positive for heartworms and received her core vaccines (DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies), deworming, and flea/heartworm prevention upon intake. Despite her heartworm diagnosis, she is in an ideal body condition (5/9) and will need treatment so she can enjoy the comfortable life she deserves.

🐾Behavior Notes:
Janis is a calm, gentle senior who greets people at her kennel with a softly wagging tail and a relaxed demeanor. She is easy to leash, walks nicely on a loose leash to and from the potty yard, and settles comfortably on her blanket when back in her kennel. Her sweet, easygoing personality shines through, making her a lovely companion looking for a quiet place to call home.

It is with a heavy heart that we invite the community to join us on August 14th as we honor K9 Arco during his final ride with the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

Arco faithfully served CCSO and the citizens of Champaign County alongside his handler, Chad Beasley, for eight years from 2013–2021. After retirement, Arco continued to be Chad’s loyal partner at home, where he remained a beloved member of the family.

At 14 years old, Arco’s health is unfortunately declining. We would like to give him the farewell and honor he so greatly deserves for his years of dedicated service, loyalty, and companionship.

Those wishing to view are invited to join us for Arco’s final ride on **Friday, August 14th**:

📍 **Meet at Homer Village Hall**
500 E 2nd St., Homer
🚔 **Procession departure: 10:00 a.m.**
Procession vehicles will be limited to first responder vehicles only.

The procession will travel from Homer, west along County Road 1000N, north on Illinois Route 130, and west on Windsor Road toward A&E Animal Hospital.

For the safety of Arco, our participants, and the traveling public, we ask that community members please **do not stop or park along Windsor Road near A&E Animal Hospital**. Parking in this area is extremely limited, and vehicles stopping along the roadway could create a safety concern and interfere with the procession.

If you would like to pay tribute to Arco, we encourage you to safely watch for the procession along the route as it travels to A&E Animal Hospital.
