Outlaw Series Central Rounds 9 & (almost) 10 at The Loop 2, Missouri

The Outlaw car was back on deck this weekend… and as good as it is, it still found a way to remind me that no race car is perfect every time.

I had noticed it felt a little lazy getting to full boost and figured it was just the difference between it and the Champ car (which spools almost instantly). During Friday qualifying the wastegate actuator linkage rod broke, letting the wastegate flap freely — zero boost. Somehow still managed to qualify P5. While fixing the actuator I found the internal wastegate had been hanging up in the housing for a while, which explained the lazy boost feel. Luckily I had a spare turbo with me and swapped the hot side. Night-and-day difference.

Moto 1 – Started 5th and quickly moved into 3rd. That didn’t last long. A car behind me made significant contact on multiple corner entries. First hit pushed me into the fluff but I held position. Second hit knocked me wide enough for him to get by. Next corner he over-drove it, I almost completed the pass, and he came back and hit me again — this time spinning me out. Dropped three more spots and finished P7.

Moto 2 – Started 7th and worked my way up to a P5.

Round 10 got rained out and will now be made up at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO on Halloween weekend along with Rounds 11 & 12.

Solid points under less-than-ideal conditions and a car that fought us a bit. On to the next ones!

As they say, we're off to the races! Outlaw series central at the Loop2 in Missouri. When you get 6.5 mpg its easy to calculate your fuel cost. $1 per mile! I remember when you could ship a entire load for that. 🤯
