When Lindsey' daughter, Vera, needed a multi-day EEG study, Lindsey saw an opportunity to make the experience a little less intimidating. Partnering with the generate team, she created a play EEG machine that allows children to become familiar with the equipment through play before or during their study.

The project helps make a medical procedure feel less scary by giving children a hands-on way to understand what to expect. Inspired by Vera's experience, the team is now working to develop instructions that other families can use to create their own play EEG machines at home. Lindsey's creativity, combined with the support of the generate team, is helping turn a challenging experience into one that is more comforting and child-friendly for patients and families.

UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids partners with MakerHealth, a Boston-based company, to power generate @ UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids, an open-access medical technology and learning lab. At generate, hospital and clinic team members, patients and community partners are empowered through access to cutting-edge tools and materials. These resources enable them to seamlessly translate their ideas into functional prototypes.
