LifeLine Foster
Volunteer run page, not official LifeLine, to showcase LL fosters & those needing foster homes. Iโm a volunteer and foster mom for LifeLine Animal Project.
I share information about foster animals-mainly from LifeLine-animals in urgent need of foster homes, and resources for those who adopt shelter animals. If you want to sponsor a post for a foster dog or dog in need of a foster home, send $10 to PayPal.Me/DHammacher. Unless otherwise requested, the post will cover the greater Atlanta metro area.

๐ CAT-FRIENDLY and DOG-FRIENDLY ๐ฅฐ
Desiah has a very serious face, but donโt let it fool you. Her tail is constantly spilling the secret that she is, in fact, VERY happy to be here.
At about 2 years old and 35 pounds, Desiah is the perfect combination of She wants to know what everyone is doing, where everyone is going, and whether she can come along. And after all that important investigating? She is more than happy to curl up with her people.
Desiah can be a little shy and cautious when meeting someone new, but give her a little time and she warms up quickly. Once youโre in her circle, prepare yourself for a playful, affectionate girl who just wants to be around her people.
She ๐น๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด๐ and enjoys playing with them, although she is definitely a ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต-๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ-๐๐๐บ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ด๐ถ๐ฟ๐น.
She also does well with dog-friendly cats, with one very reasonable exception: ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐น๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐น๐. Honestly, boundaries are healthy.
And this girl is SMART.
Desiah is already ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ and knows sit, down, leave it, come here, leash walking, and even ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ "๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด" ๐ฏ
Her dream home?
An active person or couple with a fenced yard who wants a dog to actually (Though she is not a fan of kids thus far.)
Desiah isn't looking for a perfect person. She's looking for ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ.
And once she decides you're hers, that happy tail is going to tell you exactly how she feels. โค๏ธ

๐ฅฐ DOG-FRIENDLY, KID-FRIENDLY, CAT-POSSIBLE! ๐
Meet Rupert, the biggest chonk in town. If you want a dog who will improve your social life, THIS is the guy. He wants to say hi to every single person and animal he sees when he is out and about. He might even be cat-friendly with proper intros.
He is the epitome of โnever met a stranger.โ
Speaking of his walks, Rupert is on a fitness journey, so if you want a walking accountability buddy, HE IS YOUR MAN! He loves, loves walks and is easy on leash. He was adopted as a 55-lb dog and came back at 92 lbs. ๐ฆ And he still identifies as a 55-lb dog. ๐
Rupert is SUPER dog-friendly (see pix and vids in comments), serving as the resident dog-tester for his foster dad who boards other dogs. Heโs a star at daycare too! ๐
Besides trying to squeeze his fat butt into your lap, his love language is tennis balls. He LOVES them but also doesnโt guard them from other dogs. He plays well with others, and totally respects the resident queen bee ๐ when she fills her role as the fun police.
In short: Rupert is pretty much perfect.
To meet this chonkalicious fella, go to his profile, link in the comments.
The rest...

He's in foster for LifeLine's Community Animal Center in metro Atlanta.

You want to help dogs living in your local shelter but can't or don't want to foster or adopt? Borrow a dog! All LifeLine locations in Atlanta--and many other shelters and rescues--offer dog day out programs. Dog for the Day and Weekend Warrior (a sleepover any nights of the week) are LifeLine's programs.
Dogs who get out for 1-4 hours are 5 TIMES more likely to get out alive (adopted or rescued). Dogs who spend at least one night out of the shelter are 14.5 TIMES more likely!
Why?
- It's like your weekend--the dog gets a reset from shelter stress.
- The dogs gets seen out and about with Adopt Me gear and may meet their person.
- You get cute pix and video of them, which helps with marketing.
- Most important: the notes you give on how that dog is away from the shelter are GOLD for matchmaking. They also help with updating bios.
Your outing doesn't have to be elaborate. A walk off-site and stop for a pup cup. Run errands if you're going dog-friendly places (hardware stores, drive-thrus). Lunch on a patio or an indoor dog-friendly place.
A simple lunch outing tells us how a dog is:
- getting in/out and riding in a car
- on leash
- meeting new people (they will at least meet the server)
- patio manners
- food motivation
- how gentle taking treats
- reaction to other dogs/kids/men if encountered
And you'll have a blast to boot.
So what are you waiting for?
