Atlanta Rug Cleaning & Restoration

Ever wonder what actually happens to your rug after we pick it up?

A hand-knotted rug holds a surprising amount of dry soil down in its foundation — grit a vacuum or an in-home machine will never reach. Getting it out takes seven steps and about a week.

It starts with mechanical dusting before any water touches the rug. Skip that, and you're washing the soil deeper in instead of out. Then pre-treatment and dye testing, a full submersion hand wash in the pit, a rinse until the water runs clear, and — the step most cleaners get wrong — controlled vertical drying in a climate-controlled room. A rug dried flat on a concrete floor in Atlanta humidity can grow mildew in its foundation in 24 to 48 hours.

We've been doing it this way in Chamblee since 1972. Free pick-up and delivery across metro Atlanta.

Here's something we've learned in 50+ years of washing rugs in Atlanta: most permanent stains weren't caused by the spill. They were caused by the twenty minutes after it.

Red w**e on wool is usually recoverable. Red w**e on wool that's been scrubbed with an all-purpose cleaner and hot water often isn't — the scrubbing distorted the pile, the heat set the dye, and the cleaner stripped the wool's natural protection.

So we put together a straightforward guide to the first ten minutes: what to do, what never to reach for, and how it changes depending on whether your rug is wool, silk, viscose, cotton, jute, or hand-tufted.

Your job in those first minutes is to contain the spill, not remove it. Removal is our job.

✨ Is your silk rug getting the care it actually needs?
Silk rugs are true masterpieces—handcrafted, soft, and breathtaking. But because natural silk fibers are so delicate, they’re also completely unforgiving when it comes to everyday mishaps and standard cleaning methods.
A single harsh chemical, too much moisture, or even routine sunlight can cause color bleeding, fiber weakening, or permanent texture damage.
In our latest guide, we cover what every Atlanta homeowner needs to know about preserving their fine silk rugs:
❌ Why DIY spot cleaners do more harm than good
☀️ How Atlanta’s sunshine affects natural silk fibers
🍷 What to do immediately if a spill happens (Hint: Never scrub!)
🧼 Why professional, specialized washing is essential
Protect your investment and keep your rug looking vibrant for decades to come.

Silk Rug Care: What Atlanta Homeowners Need to Know Silk rugs are breathtaking — and unforgiving of mistakes. The wrong cleaning method, a single harsh chemical, or even too much sunlight can permanently damage fibers that took weavers months to create. Here's what Atlanta homeowners need to know about caring for silk rugs.

🧶 **Wool Rug Owners: Atlanta's Heat & Humidity Are Working Against You**

Wool rugs can absorb up to 30% of their weight in moisture without feeling wet — great for comfort, but risky in Georgia's climate. If a rug isn't dried fully and fast after cleaning, mold can take hold in the foundation before you ever see it on the surface.

A few quick tips:
✅ Vacuum with suction only (no be**er bar) — it breaks wool fibers
✅ Blot spills, never rub — grocery store cleaners can set stains permanently
✅ Flip your rug occasionally — yellowing or a musty smell underneath means trouble
✅ High-traffic rugs need professional cleaning every 12–18 months

Regular carpet cleaners aren't equipped for wool — hot water extraction can shrink fibers and bleed dyes. If it's been a while since your rug was professionally cleaned, now's a good time.
