Our dear friend Matt Talbott owns a bar south of Champaign called Loose Cobra.

A while back, he was doing some maintenance work at the bar during the day, and his 1988 Dodge work truck was stolen from the parking lot. And to make it worse, all of Matt's keys were in the truck, including the only key to his beloved 1999 SAAB 9-5.

And like most things SAAB-related... it's complicated.

You can't just get a new key. You have to reprogram the car's security system - and there aren't a lot of folks who can do it. It's a huge and expensive hassle. His work truck is gone and his daily driver is dead. Double bummer.

A few weeks later, Matt hears from a cop in Florida. Someone crashed the truck into a Motel 6. It was impounded at the police tow lot and would be sold for scrap. Matt asked if they found any keys in the truck. Sadly, no keys. He also asked if they found any fingerprints or DNA, they did not. Skip forward to a year later... Matt found a SAAB specialist who could do the work (or at least try to do it).

So the SAAB was shipped up north for this complicated and delicate procedure. A few weeks after that, I'm driving down the street and see Matt in his SAAB! I was so excited to see them together, back on the road, I nearly crashed my car. I'm happy to report that Matt and his SAAB are doing fine.

📥 This week at HQ we received some entertaining feedback.

🏡 A customer said it was "weird" to go to someone's house for an Eric Bachmann show. They even skipped a show they had tickets for because they just couldn't overcome the concept. 😢

🎞️ Looking back on our tenure with Eric has us pondering.. what's NOT to love? And what is it about house shows that turns people away?? 🤔🤔

Do we start insisting hosts install disco balls, fog machines, and supply a cast of loud drinkers so it feels more like a bar?? 🪩🍻🕺🏻🍻🪩

We find the lack-of trashed bathrooms and sticky floors a major perk of attending an Undertow house show.. but are we the minority?! We'll keep workshopping a solution to this non-problem, but for those that DON'T fear intimate shows in cozy spaces:
