Children’s Ministry Update
Based on the present attendance and ages of our children on Sundays, it’s necessary to make the following adjustments to our children’s ministry schedule and format temporarily until we have the position staffed and/or move into our new building.
1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of each month will be Nursery for ages 0-3 Parents will es**rt their children to the Infant and Toddler area of the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry and pick them up during the Communion Response Time. The Mother’s Room will continue to be available every Sunday in The Loft at the Music Farm.
2nd and 4th Sundays will be for ages PreK 4 - Elementary will be dismissed during the Passing of the Peace and es**rted across the street by the City Kids Team to their normal classroom in the Children’s Museum and then return during Communion. Children ages PreK4 through 5th grade will stay with their parents during the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays. We will have activity bags available at the Connect Table for them that will include a clipboard, crayons, and Bible activity sheet. If you feel your family needs a weekly preschool or elementary school environment for your child, we recommend that you join in services at St. Andrews Church in Mt. Pleasant or Park Circle in this season because we are one church in three locations.
This rotation will allow kids of all ages to be included in our children’s ministry and we believe this is the schedule our current Team of volunteers can sustain with excellence. The vision is to expand our Team of City Kids volunteers, so that we can run both environments every Sunday — but that will take more people, so if you're on the fence about jumping in, this is a great time!
At City Church, our heart is to help people flourish by creating opportunities for them to Find Jesus, Follow Jesus, and be Formed by Jesus. The bible calls this process evangelism and discipleship. In the Gospels, this often happened around shared meals, sitting at tables, and having meaningful conversations.
That is why on Wednesday nights this Fall, starting September 16 at 6:30 PM, we are hosting Alpha. Whether you’ve been following Jesus for decades or you aren’t sure what you believe, Alpha is designed for every stage of your journey.
If you have honest questions, doubts, or are exploring faith for the first time, Alpha provides an open, pressure-free environment to explore the big questions of life.
If you want to deepen your walk, Alpha returns to the essentials of the Christian faith and places you in real, relational community over a shared meal.
If you are a mature believer, sitting at the Alpha table, listening with compassion, offering hospitality, and holding space for others will stretch and reshape your heart in the way of Jesus.
Every session starts with a free dinner, includes a short video exploring a big question about life and faith, and has open table discussions where everyone’s voice is valued. Mark your calendar for September 16! To register, go to alphausa.org.
