HOW TNC IS DIFFERENT

Charleston has many organizations doing important work in housing, healthcare, and crisis support. TNC's distinction is not just what we do, it is how we do it.

1. WE ACCOMPANY. Other organizations refer. TNC accompanies. We don't hand someone a list of resources and wish them well — we walk the path with them, every step.

2. WE COORDINATE. Other organizations operate in silos. TNC aligns housing, healthcare, mental health, employment, and human services into one unified path forward.

3. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. We deliver shelter-level comprehensive services to people who cannot or will not enter a shelter, filling a critical, underserved gap.

THE NUMBERS BEHIND THE NEED

Every statistic represents not a data point, but a family that stayed housed, a child who stayed in school, and a person who kept their lights on long enough to find stability.

Numbers tell scale. Stories tell meaning. We use both.

Thanks to our partnership with the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery The Navigation Center now has a second location in North Charleston:

Open Thursdays | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

This location puts us closer to the families we walk alongside, cutting the transportation barriers that too often stand between a neighbor and the help they need.

Through our partnership with MUSC CARES Clinic for the Unhoused, telehealth hours will also be available on site to address immediate healthcare needs.

Our downtown location remains open Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with our full continuum of services.

We are grateful to the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery for standing with our mission and helping us meet people where they are.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 2015 and based in Charleston, South Carolina, The Navigation Center is a systems-level intermediary rooted in a simple belief: no one should have to navigate a crisis alone.

TNC does not operate as a single-service provider. We function as a central coordinating hub, ensuring individuals and families experiencing housing instability can navigate and access the full ecosystem of support required to achieve long-term, independent, sustainable living.

For more than ten years, The Navigation Center has walked alongside neighbors in the Lowcountry from the moment of crisis through stabilization, housing, and long-term follow-up.

The Navigation Center was honored to attend the MUSC IMPACT event recently and see the incredible work happening across Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and our community.

We are proud to be represented as part of MUSC CARES for the Unhoused, a partnership bringing healthcare directly to neighbors experiencing housing instability.

Dr. Cristin Adams shared how CARES for the Unhoused builds a bridge between healthcare and the social needs that so often stand between someone and getting well. Through this partnership, patients receive medical care while TNC walks alongside them because healthcare and community services shouldn't work in silos and no neighbor should have to navigate these systems alone

Grateful for Dr. Adams, the MUSC CARES team, students, residents and evey MUSC partner who keeps showing up to meet people where they are.

At The Navigation Center, we believe every child deserves the joy of summer. For children navigating housing instability, summer can mean losing the structure, meals, and sense of community that school provides.

This summer, we partnered with Second Presbyterian Church to host Vacation Bible School with the incredible support of the Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Charleston, SC Youth Group. It was an unforgettable week filled with singing, crafts, laughter, friendships, and the simple gift of letting children just be kids.

This is what walking alongside a family truly looks like—a community coming together with compassion, love, and hope.

A heartfelt thank you to Second Presbyterian Church for opening your doors, the St. Clare of Assisi Youth Group for pouring your hearts into these children, Chick-fil-A and Home Team BBQ of Charleston, SC for helping keep everyone well-fed, and to every volunteer who gave your time, energy, and love to make this week possible.

Together, you didn't just create a summer camp—you created memories, belonging, and hope. ❤️

Some of the best things that happen for our families this summer don’t happen at TNC at all, they happen because our community shows up.

This week, kids from our Navigator families head to Vacation Bible School at Second Presbyterian Church, with the youth group of Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, lending a hand and Chick-fil-a keeping bellies full.

Glue sticks, sing-alongs, a church full of noise and craft projects. No schedules to keep, nothing to worry about except snack time. A time of singing, crafting, silly and just being a kid.

This is what walking alongside a family actually looks like: a whole community, pulling in the same direction.

Every child deserves a summer like this one.

Walking alongside our community: Charleston County School District's McKinney-Vento Office is partnering with First Choice Select Health and The Navigation Center to support families in our community.
