When the site works, people don’t just pass through it. They use it.

The strongest commercial landscapes create reasons to stay, gather and move through a place with ease. When landscape and architecture work together, the development becomes more than a collection of buildings—it becomes a place people want to experience.

The space between buildings isn’t leftover space. It’s part of the business plan.

Circulation, shade, gathering spaces, planting and pedestrian connections all shape how people experience a development. When those elements are planned together, a collection of buildings can become a destination with a stronger identity and sense of place.

What makes people want to stay, walk, gather and come back?

Successful commercial spaces are about more than what happens inside the buildings. Landscape architecture helps shape the experience between them—creating places that support tenants, visitors, community and the identity of the development.

The finished landscape should feel inevitable — like it belongs exactly where it is.

The finished property brings the client’s outdoor living goals together with the natural character of Palmetto Bluff. Refined spaces near the home transition into softer, naturalistic planting, allowing the architecture and landscape to feel connected.

Before we decide what to add, we look carefully at what the property is already giving us.

The plan began by studying the existing landscape, views, circulation and relationship between the home and outdoor spaces. Each decision—from hardscape to planting—was designed to work with the site rather than overpower it.

How do you create something distinctive without competing with the landscape that made the client fall in love with the property?

At Palmetto Bluff, the goal was to support the client’s lifestyle without losing the natural character of the site. Naturalistic edges transition into more refined spaces near the home, creating a landscape that feels intentional, low-maintenance and connected to its surroundings.

The goal wasn’t to create a landscape that looked designed. It was to make the entire property feel like it had always belonged together.

A simple material palette, thoughtful circulation and layered planting helped connect the McCants home, pool and outdoor spaces. Each element was designed to support the architecture rather than compete with it. The result is a property that feels cohesive, natural and complete.

18 years. Hundreds of projects. One thing hasn’t changed: it starts with listening.

For 18 years, clients have brought REMARK complex questions about how their properties should look, feel and function. Our role starts with listening, then creating a plan that brings together everything from drainage and grading to outdoor living, planting and approvals. That process continues to guide every project we take on.

A beautiful property doesn't happen by solving one piece at a time.

The McCants property called for a complete landscape plan that considered the pool, hardscape, planting, circulation and lighting as one composition. The goal was to keep the design simple and clean while creating a seamless connection between the landscape, architecture and site. Every decision needed to feel intentional, not pieced together.
