Reading doesn't have to feel like homework. Turn it into an adventure by encouraging your child to become a reading detective:

🔍 Find words they already know
🔍 Spot letters and sounds they recognize
🔍 Pick a favorite word from the page

Then take on this week's Reading Mission:
⭐ Find 5 familiar words
⭐ Be a reading detective for 15 minutes
⭐ Teach someone one new word you learned

Small moments of reading practice add up to big growth over time. Have fun exploring, discovering, and learning together this week!

Summer training season is in full swing!
Today we welcomed 22 educators to Blackbaud as we kicked off our second professional learning cohort of the summer—our Orton-Gillingham Associate Level training.
The OGA Associate Level credential is one of the most rigorous & impactful pathways, combining intensive coursework with a supervised practicum that helps educators learn not just the theory behind reading instruction, but how to apply it effectively with students who struggle to read.
We continue to be inspired by teachers who choose to spend part of their summer investing in their craft and deepening their ability to serve students. Through the support of our philanthropic community, more educators have access to this specialized training and the coaching needed to translate learning into lasting impact.

Learning doesn't stop when summer starts. Each Monday this summer, we'll be sharing a simple tip, activity, or challenge to help families keep learning, growing, and exploring together.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸'𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

Reading doesn't have to feel like homework. Build a fort, head outside with a favorite book, let your child choose the story, or take turns reading aloud. The goal is simple: make reading fun.

While our scholars are building their skills during Summer Reading Camp, our team is hard at work preparing classrooms, organizing learning spaces, and getting the building ready for another school year! 📚📦

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀!

This year, Compass Collegiate Academy celebrated something truly special: 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀. 🎓

As Compass completes its fifth year, these scholars become the 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 to complete their elementary journey with us. We've watched them grow in confidence, character, leadership, and academic achievement, and we couldn't be more proud!

Their graduation isn't just a milestone for these scholars, it's a milestone for our school. As they move on, Compass is preparing to welcome its 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘅𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 this fall, where scholars will explore entrepreneurship, career pathways, and hands-on learning through weekly field experiences designed to connect learning with the world beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to the 𝗙𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲! Your Compass journey helped chart the course for those who will follow behind you. 💙

🎓💙 One week ago, we celebrated a very special milestone for the Compass Collegiate Academy Kindergarten Class of 2026!

From their very first day of kindergarten to crossing the stage in their graduation caps and gowns, these scholars have grown into confident learners, leaders, and members of our Compass community. We couldn't be more proud of all they have accomplished during this important first year of their educational journey.

A special thank you to our incredible kindergarten teachers for the love, encouragement, patience, and support you've poured into these scholars throughout the year. Your impact will be felt far beyond kindergarten, and we are so grateful for all you do!

To our kindergarten families, thank you for partnering with us and trusting us with this important chapter in your scholars' lives. We are honored to be part of their story.

Yesterday, our scholars had the incredible opportunity to hear from Mayor Reggie Burgess as he spent time reading and speaking with both our lower and upper elementary scholars. 💙📚

He shared pieces of his story, reminding our scholars that success doesn’t happen alone.

“𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙚…𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢, 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. 𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚.”

Moments like these matter. They remind our scholars that their dreams are possible—and that the people around them are here to help them get there.
