BREAKING THE CYCLE OF FINANCIAL ILLITERACY

Financial empowerment begins with financial education. Not every cycle that needs to be broken is trauma, violence, or poverty. Some cycles are rooted in what we’ve simply never been taught.

Financial illiteracy isn’t a lack of intelligence, it’s a lack of opportunity to learn. When young people understand the value of money, how banking works, how credit impacts their future, and how to make informed financial decisions, they gain more than knowledge, they gain confidence, direction, and opportunity.

That’s why Step Up To Leadership, in partnership with Bank, is bringing together teens for an interactive financial empowerment experience designed to educate, equip, and inspire the next generation.

Teens will learn how to:

💰 Understand the value of money
🏦 Leverage banking and financial institutions
💳 Build and protect healthy credit
📈 Develop smart saving and investing habits
🎯 Make financial decisions that create long-term opportunities

📅 Monday, August 10
🕐 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 2336 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208
🍽️ Food will be provided

Parents, this is an opportunity to invest in your teen’s future with practical financial knowledge they can carry for a lifetime.

“Conversations lead to understanding, and understanding leads to solutions.”

04/28/2026

I’m deeply honored to be recognized as a 2026 Mental Health Champion by the Mental Health America of Central Carolinas. Mental health isn’t just a conversation, it’s personal. It’s real. And it’s something that touches every life, every family, every community.

This work is bigger than recognition. It’s about showing up, breaking barriers, and standing in the gap for those who feel unseen, unheard, or unsupported. I’m grateful to be aligned with a community that is committed to advancing advocacy, education, and access, and creating change that truly impacts lives.

We all have a role to play. Let’s continue to speak life, extend grace, and support one another.

Step Up To Leadership Personal Development Had the opportunity to mentor this young man in his Junior and Senior year. It was truly a blessing, such a incredible young man. Seeing him now in the hands of our amazing community partner Scott Clark Toyota gives me even more confidence that he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be. Thank you Rodney Goodall & Chris Carnes for your unwavering support for Step Up To Leadership Personal Development

From day one, he’s shown himself what hard work, discipline, and consistency can produce, and this is just the beginning. Jerrell, we are beyond proud of you. Keep going, keep growing, and never forget what you’re capable of. Your journey is only getting started
