Community Building Initiative

Our next planning session for the 2026 Community Builders Breakfast is Wednesday, September 9th at 3:30pm. This session will build upon the work of the previous sessions, but feel free to join even if you haven't attended previously! Register to join us at https://loom.ly/SwtIY38

Don’t forget, August is Black Philanthropy Month and this year’s theme is “Many Voices. One Movement.” We are proud of our CBI leadership with a history-making moment for the first time ever with a Black board chair and executive director (Eugene Young and Janeen Bryant, respectively) continuing our mission-driven work in Charlotte. As always we appreciate your support and the many voices it takes to reach equity in our community!

"True community is based upon equality, mutuality, and reciprocity. It affirms the richness of individual diversity as well as the common human ties that bind us together.” - Pauli Murray

After 25 years, CBI Program Coordinator Annetta Foard is retiring today! "I am so grateful that God allowed me to impact so many lives," says Annetta. "To fight for equity and empowerment and to build lasting relationships in the community that shapes me. It has been a reciprocal journey for sure. I have given a lot but have received just as much. I’m grateful for that!" Please join us in wishing Annetta the best!
