Courage can look like a lot of things.

Asking for help.
Setting a boundary.
Starting recovery.
Speaking up.
Showing up.
Taking one more brave step.

The new Real Courage Collection from Brave Step was created to celebrate the strength it takes to keep moving forward and to spark conversations that remind survivors they are believed, supported and not alone.

Wear your courage.
Wear your support.
Wear a reminder that every brave step matters.

💙 One Brave Thing: Name What You Need

Anger can sometimes show up when we’ve felt helpless, betrayed, afraid or hurt.

When you notice anger rising, try asking: “What do I need right now to feel more grounded or empowered?”

Maybe it’s space. A conversation. Support. Movement. Rest. A trusted person.

You don’t have to solve everything in that moment. Start by identifying what you need.

💙 Voices of Change: Why I Support Brave Step

For some people, supporting Brave Step begins with a personal connection. For this donor, it begins with understanding firsthand how difficult it can be to move forward and how powerful it can be to have people you trust beside you.

> “The most important thing I have learned is that having a support system you can trust in all aspects is a life changer.”

She supports Brave Step because she believes no one should have to carry the weight of their experiences alone.

That’s what community can do. It can remind us that we are not alone, our past experiences do not define us, and we can find the courage to claim our lives back.

We’re grateful for donors like her who choose to turn their personal “why” into action and help build a community where survivors feel supported, seen and believed.

This is what it means to be a Voice of Change. 💙

💙 One Brave Thing: Get Curious About Your Anger

When anger shows up, pause before judging it.

Ask yourself: “What else might I be feeling right now?”

Anger can sometimes sit on top of other emotions - hurt, fear, sadness, disappointment or worry.

You don’t have to push the anger away. Just get curious about what it may be telling you.

Notice. Name. Get curious.

That’s one brave step toward understanding yourself. 💙

The Role of an Ally: Why Listening Matters More Than Fixing 09/24/2026

💙 Voices of Change: Sometimes Support Looks Like Listening

When someone we love is struggling, our instinct can be to fix, solve, reassure or find the right answer.

But sometimes, what they need most is simply for us to stay present.

In this Loved Ones video, Emily’s partner shares how he learned to recognize when she needed his presence instead of solutions—and how that simple shift became a lifeline during difficult moments.

Listening isn’t passive. It’s an act of support.

It means staying grounded, staying open and allowing someone to be heard without rushing them toward a solution.

If you’re supporting an adult survivor of sexual violence, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Brave Step’s Loved Ones Group for Supporters of an Adult Survivor returns October 10 with three virtual sessions designed to help family, friends and intimate partners build understanding, strengthen communication and develop practical tools for support including caring for themselves along the way.

Sometimes, learning how to be there is one of the bravest things we can do. 💙

Anger is a natural human emotion. Learning to recognize it, understand what may be underneath it and respond with intention can support healthier relationships, personal growth and meaningful change.

Over the next five weeks, we'll share a five-part series that explores understanding anger, its relationship to trauma, physical and emotional warning signs, self-care strategies and healthier communication.

Module 1: Anger isn’t automatically destructive. It is a natural emotion and sometimes a signal that hurt, fear or another feeling needs attention. This first module explores what anger is and how we can channel its energy constructively.
