The Urban Education Collaborative is an affiliate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, dedicated to research in and improvement of urban education. The Urban Education Collaborative was formed in Fall 2011 to fulfill the goals of our University designation as the urban research institution of the state of North Carolina. Our goal is to serve as a central 'hub and respository' of empirically-based research and other valuable resources to improve urban schools in the state of North Carolina and the nation. To fulfill the true essence of our University designation, we have an intentional purpose to provide strategic outreach to schools and other organizations to fit their needs to improve the educational environment to facilitate high-level learning for our nation's urban students.
We are pleased to announce Dr. Quinci Teer as our ICUE Educator of the Year for 2026. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding P–12 classroom teacher who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, service and impact in advancing educational excellence for students in urban schools and communities. Dr. Teer will receive an all expense paid trip to ICUE 2026 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Congratulations Dr. Teer!

The International Conference on Urban Education (ICUE) is accepting nominations for the 2026 ICUE Urban Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding P–12 classroom teacher who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, service and impact in advancing educational excellence for students in urban schools and communities.
The recipient of the award will receive roundtrip airfare from a major US airport, three night hotel accommodations and complimentary registration to the 6th International Conference on Urban Education.
