Tiny Paws RVA, Rescue

Settle in friends, because I have a story for you.
One I've been sitting on until I knew the outcome.
PLEASE read with kindness, and please DON'T ask about adoption.

Now that that's out of the way...

About a month ago we were contacted by Clancy & Theys Construction . Their construction workers had found three abandoned kittens that needed rescue. Of course, we said yes.

Within literally seconds of getting them I knew one was paralyzed in the back legs. In all my years, I've never had a paralyzed kitten, but I do have a rescue friend in New York who specializes in them. Before I even put my car in gear I was getting all the advice and guidance I could ask for.

I named them Ink, Parchment, and Quill. Quill was the only girl, and the medical mystery.

Taking care of Quill was stressful at times. It was scary and a little bit confusing and I felt like I was walking in the dark with just a tiny flashlight to guide my way.

Thankfully, she was as sweet as she was spunky, and she was patient with me as I figured it out.

Over the month she was with me, we realized there was more going on than just her paralysis. She wasn't gaining weight like she should, sometimes had issues eating (we worked on it, but it was a challenge), and sometimes... The best way to put it is that she just seemed a little "off". I've raised a lot of kittens over the years, and she wasn't quite there like they usually are.

Unfortunately, all of Quill's medical issues were too much for her. She passed away this past weekend.

She wasn't just a little disabled kitten. She was something special.

She was so spunky, and so full of sass. She loved toys and loved to eat. She loved ear rubs, too.

Her brothers continue to do amazingly. They are silly, feisty little boys who love to snuggle. Ink was definitely attached to Quill, and I can tell her misses her.

I share Quill's story because she mattered. We need more people to understand the work rescuers do, and the suffering we need everyone's help to prevent.

Sweet Quill. You were loved.

We have some cute new kittens to introduce you to!

Meet Pumpkin (orange boy), Spice (black and white girl), and Wolfie (gray boy).

They came to us from our friends as SWAG, where all 3 were outside on their own, and they're just as cute as can be! They're all social little goofballs. And before anyone asks, they are not available (so calm down 😉), and enjoy the cuteness!

Who else do we need to give an update on?

Remember our little bottle baby, Salem?

He's a big boy now! While he does still occasionally want a little formula, he's eating wet food and using the litterbox all on his own.

Does he need a spooky themed photo shoot? 👀🐈‍⬛🎃👻🕸️🕷️🦇

Soon (but not yet!) he'll be looking for his forever home. Stay tuned!

This crew is so confident, sweet, and snuggly! They're always all over their foster mom, and this group can play hard!

Everyone has unique personalities you can find out all about on the website! You can also find out who is who since we can't answer that for you in the comments. 😁

😸 BRIDGERS! 😸

This boy and his sisters are now in my bathroom (rip my mental health and sleep, but oh well 🙃).

🐈Bridgers is the SWEETEST. He wants all the attention, and he gets demanding if he doesn't get it. He purrs, paws, and chatters away at anyone who will listen. He's very playful and can get a bit carried away, but with someone to play with him he'll settle just fine.

It's just about impossible to get a photo because the second a person is nearby, he's up in their face asking for attention! 😻

He's about 6 months, but he's a big boy. If you love big orange kitties, he's the guy for you!

Y'all, The Amazing AcroCats was more fun than I could have ever dreamed up.

We were welcomed with open paws, and had the best time. We met so many great new friends, got to share the work we do, and sold so much merch!

Plus, we got to see the shows. These shows are pure silliness, chaos, and cuteness! Everyone thinks "of, how many tricks can a cat really do?" But I can tell you, way more than you ever expect. The love and trust battery these cats and their humans is clear, and watching it happen is so much fun.

Between the donation from Acro Cats, our merch sales, and donations, we raised a little over $2500, and we are SO grateful.

Thank you to Amanda, Ashley, Rachel, and Sam for letting us be a little part of your tour. And thank all of you for your support!

😺 Dottie, Bridget, Digit, and Marigold are all looking for forever homes!

This group of gal pals is so sweet and so fun. They love to explore and play, and they're always snuggling together on cozy blankets when they need a rest!

Dottie is the confident, fearless leader. Bridget is smart and curious. Digit is cautious, but chatty. And Marigold didn't start with this group, but her wildflower energy fits in perfectly.

😺 We are prioritizing applications that are looking to adopt these girls in pairs. Ideally, Bridget and Digit would go home together, and Dottie and Marigold would go home together, but other combinations would be fabulous as well!

NESTA is over here wondering why she's still waiting in her foster home.

This sweet young lady is about ~7 months of pure tortie delight (and a little sass 😉). She loves attention and playing with toys. She's also fully vetted!

We know her perfect family is out there! Is it you?
