Northmen Exotics

Little guy is already making himself at home! 🦎

Giving beardies different levels, climbing opportunities, basking spots, and places to explore lets them make much better use of their enclosure. And sometimes they make it pretty clear which spot is their favorite.

Hard to argue with the view!

Want to learn more about enclosure dynamics and getting the most out of your reptile’s setup? Stop by Northmen Exotics and talk reptiles with us!

🦎 Not every reptile belongs in the same glass box.
Arboreal, terrestrial, tropical, semi-aquatic. Different animals use their space in completely different ways, and the enclosure you start with matters.
We just got in a big selection of Exo Terra Pro Terrariums and Pro Paludariums, with different footprints and heights to build around the animal instead of trying to make the animal fit the enclosure.
Whether you're planning a planted gecko setup, building out space for a terrestrial species, or finally tackling that paludarium you've been thinking about, we've got some seriously cool options to work with.
And yes, they look even better once they're planted and full of life. 🌿

Same species. Completely different looks.

That's part of what makes crested geckos so much fun.

Cresties make great pets for people looking for a smaller arboreal gecko. They're manageable and their prepared diets make feeding surprisingly straightforward. Give them plenty of vertical space to climb, hide, and explore, and you'll get to see exactly why they've become such popular geckos.

And then there's the variety.

These two couldn't look much more different!!

They're also a great example of the variety of critters we get to work with here at Northmen Exotics. Different colors, patterns, personalities, and species mean there's almost always something new to discover when you stop in.

Which crestie catches your eye: light and spotted or dark and fiery? 🦎

Our sidewalk looked like this this morning 😅 Huge Exo Terra shipment just landed. Unpacking Pro Terrariums and Paludariums now. If you have been waiting on a size, now's the time to swing by. 1414 Logan Ave

🦎 A little behind-the-scenes look at Northmen Exotics!

We recently had Rocky Mtn Tree Frogs come out for an employee education day focused on reptile lighting, UVB, and how to properly provide for the animals in our care.

From measuring UVB levels to understanding how lighting changes throughout an enclosure, our team got some hands-on experience with the science behind proper reptile husbandry.
These are the kinds of things our employees are doing behind the scenes for the reptiles we love. We're always learning, improving, and finding ways to provide better care, not just for the animals in our store, but for the ones that go home with you, too!

A huge thank you to Rocky Mtn Tree Frogs for taking the time to share their knowledge with our team!
Better education means better care!

🔎🐍 CAN YOU SPOT THE CORN SNAKE?
Somewhere in this enclosure is a very cute corn snake who has apparently decided that being on display is optional.
For scale, he's about 24 inches long, or two 12-inch rulers end to end. Yet somehow, he's pretty darn good at disappearing.

This is also one of the things we love about bioactive enclosures. Live plants, leaf litter, natural substrate, and a cleanup crew don't just make an enclosure look great, they give the animal a much more natural environment to explore, burrow, and hide in. Sometimes a little too well. 😂

👀 Can you find him?
No cheating in the comments! If you spot him, don't give away his hiding spot. 🐍🌿

When you’re cleaning the glass, can’t find the frog, and accidentally grab the exact leaf he’s been sleeping under…

Red-eyed tree frogs spend their days tucked beneath leaves with their eyes closed and legs pulled in, hiding those bright colors surprisingly well. Then nighttime hits, and they come alive.

Apparently, we interrupted this one’s beauty sleep—and he came down to silently judge our housekeeping. 🐸🍃

A few photos from yesterday's event! We want to thank everyone who showed up and spent the day learning with us! We also want to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing presenters. They are all so smart and knowledgeable in their areas and when we come together like this to share that knowledge, its a win for the animals.

Stay tuned for more awesome events and workshops with Northmen Exotics 🐍🦎🕷

We had an amazing day today with all of our friends! A massive thank you to Wild Things Exotic Pets Allison Crouder Chase Powell and 🥇RubberDuckyIsopods.com🇺🇸 for all the time they took to put together their presentations
