The Wyoming State Library is one of five divisions of the Department of Administration & Information, along with Human Resources, Budget, Economic Analysis, and General Services. The WSL serves state government agencies, Wyoming libraries, and residents of the Cowboy State. It’s the mission of the WSL to provide exceptional library service and resources to our patrons so that all Wyomingites may have the opportunity to succeed personally, professionally, academically, and in the community. A traveling version of the University of Wyoming’s “The Natural Archive: Glimpses into the University of Wyoming’s Scientific Collections” exhibit will visit libraries across the state from October 2026 through October 2028.
The Wyoming State Library is coordinating the tour, which starts at the Goshen County Library in Torrington. Twenty-five main and branch libraries are hosting the exhibit.
“The Wyoming State Library is proud to partner with University of Wyoming Libraries to bring this exhibit to communities across the state,” says Abby Beaver, Wyoming state librarian and UW adjunct faculty member. “This tour is a fantastic opportunity for residents to engage with our state’s rich scientific history and natural heritage in a meaningful, accessible way.”

🌿 The Natural Archive is hitting the road!
A traveling version of UW Libraries’ The Natural Archive: Glimpses into the University of Wyoming’s Scientific Collections is now making its way across Wyoming, bringing a look at the state’s biodiversity and natural heritage to libraries in communities statewide.
The tour, coordinated in partnership with the Wyoming State Library, kicked off this month at Goshen County Library in Torrington. Over the next two years, the nine-panel exhibit will visit libraries in Newcastle, Sundance, Gillette, Buffalo, Cody, Lander, Pinedale, Evanston, Rawlins and more.
The exhibit highlights scientific collections from across UW, including the Biodiversity Institute, UW Museum of Vertebrates, Geological Museum, Insect Museum, Williams Conservatory, Rocky Mountain Herbarium and Wyoming Natural Diversity Database.
📍 The exhibit will be on the road through October 2028, with each location hosting it for about a month.

The Wyoming Library Association 2026 Annual Conference wrapped up with an author’s luncheon, featuring an inspiring keynote speech by Brandon Mull, author of the Fablehaven series and many other books.

Wyoming library professionals from across the state gathered this week in Cheyenne for three days of learning, networking, and inspiration at the Wyoming Library Association 2026 Annual Conference-“Thriving Together.” Stay tuned for a full report on this dynamic event later this month.

The Wyoming State Library (WSL) is currently in the process of evaluating our previous Library and Technology Services Act (LSTA) five-year plan in order to prepare our new five-year plan.
We will be collecting information about the usefulness and success of the WSL's resources and services to Wyoming libraries through a number of processes, including a survey and focus groups.
Stay tuned to find out how you and your library can be involved in this process. We will be sending out information about the survey and focus groups via email and listservs, so be on the lookout!
The WSL looks forward to hearing from you about how we can serve you and your libraries even better!
